I was listening to this on NPR this morning and it really got my cortisol levels up. I’m not even trying to plug for Platner; maybe he’ll Fetterman us. But billionaire captive NPR continues to be disappointing.
*For clarity, this is a wall of shame post. An example NPR serving the interests of billionaires, and in no way an article I support or endorse.
We don’t allow editorializing in the headline, you can put it in the body of the post or a top level comment.
I generally give time to correct it before just removing it so the clock starts… now!
That reads like Jordan M. from gastronots.
Damn it, Gastronauts sounds hilarious, I don’t need another time sink. LOL.
(Says the guy who puts on the America’s Test Kitchen channel on as background noise.)
Oh it is quite funny. One of the challenges was they had to make food to eat from a beard, cause Becca wanted that experience. And Siobhan’s challenge of “animal preposition article object” was truly magical.
“Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.”
Posted exact title: check. Added relevant context: check. Editorialized in the body: check.
Edit: it’s not very popular anyway. Pretty sure I did not successfully get my point across and now the post just feels inappropes.
The brackets are editorial comment, not context. 😉
Context would be like if it didn’t explicitly say “Maine” so you put up “Will [Maine] Voters…”
Hey now, I did not alter the title. And that’s what is clearly cited in the 1st rule. Altering. I added editorial context; the whole point of my post was to editorialize the title, and article contents. It was silly, I guess.
Anyways, I enjoyed this little exchange of ours. I’m gonna alter my title, just in case this develops.
“The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.” Same as it always has been.
You added your own editorial commentary in the headline which we do not allow. Thank you for removing it!
It IS allowed in the body or a top level comment, just not in the headline.
Well you should make it a rule then. I’m pretty sure you just enjoy gaslighting. Or you could remove the article for my aforementioned reason: the whole reason behind posting it is editorial/critical: please remove it for that!
It’s rule #1 written in plain English.
The vast majority of other submitters comprehend this quite easily, the multiple people reporting your post sure did!

Again it is literally not what you are continually stating in your comments: “editorializing the title” and even then I clearly posted the title and my particular bullshit afterwards. Rewrite the rule more carefully, or continue having this argument almost every single day with various parties (seems a common occurrence from my passive observation). Need not discuss it more; I’ve already altered my post to appease you. Just wish you’d understand your obvious and blatant error (and so do others).
So it was sexting with adults? Consenting adults? Consenting adults he didn’t have a power imbalance over?
Guy sounds like a saint compared to the people on capitol hill right now.
Who gives a shit? Seriously look at the situation we’re in, you give a fuck if this guy made some shitty social media posts and sexted other women? We gonna hold this guy to that kind of standard but not dig in on the growing list of Republican pedophiles?
Give me a fucking break. Every time a real labor person gets popular here come the character assassination attempts from the “left”.
Nice Polite Republicans
Did I say I gave a shit? It seems like a lot of folks like to move with their preconceptions and not even attempt to understand what is being output to them. The whole point of putting this here was to illustrate your first point.
Yeah my bad, when I said “you” I meant it more in the general sense “you all” or specifically in this case, NPR. I wasn’t directing that at you directly, killea. I appreciate you posting it homie.
It’s so tiresome that in this era of Trump and the Republicans systematically destroying everything that might have ever been or ever could be of value in the US, the Dem establishment has poured their time and energy into trying to defeat… leftists.
I can barely even manage to be angry about it any more. At this point, I’m mostly just hoping that when this whole rotten civilization collapses, the Democrats and the Republicans are buried side by side, so our descendants can piss on all of their graves simultaneously.
I’m mostly despondent at this point; just got acutely upset when I heard this shit again. It does seem likely that our systems are broken backwards and it will all have to go, and that just seems like a lot more pain and suffering for most of us. All while the people that have stolen the levers of power make a buck to be buried in, and the protectors of those levers left or were replaced long ago. And I swear I remember a time when at least npr would report basic objective facts without such transparent agenda. And back to despondency I go.
I keep thinking that if we could time travel someone from the final days of Babylon or Dynastic Egypt or Athens or Imperial Rome to the US of today and somehow give them a crash course in the language and technology, they’d look around and say, “Oh yeah - I recognize this.”
