Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents pepper-sprayed Sen. Andy Kim (D-NJ) and protesters on Monday in Newark.

Demonstrators gathered outside Delaney Hall, an immigrant detention facility where some inmates are on a hunger strike to protest conditions at the facility.

According to NJ.com, Kim attempted to broker an agreement between agents and protesters to try to defuse the situation. At one point, agents started pushing the crowd back and began firing projectiles containing chemical irritants. The senator reportedly placed himself between the crowd and agents, putting his arms up, as if to say, “Stop.”

Yeah but he still accepted half a million dollars in funding from AIPAC, so he could do a lot better.

Dunno how true it is as I haven’t looked into it myself, but Mark Kelly says he’s the only person in congress who hasn’t used AIPAC money.

Either you’re a useful idiot for the MAGATS or you are one of them, not sure which is worse.

Hell nah, anybody who accepts money from a country that completely supports and facilitates unambiguously kidnapping people in international waters and raping them, on top of their ongoing genocide, is no friend of yours.

Same argument that the ‘centrists’ used when they just didn’t vote in any of the elections that brought us to this point.

Has he made any policy, voted along lines that supported them, or done anything that indicates he’s pushing their agenda?

If the answer is no, and you’d rather him just not have a chance at winning when he’s only shown he’s a genuinely good representative, then you’re the problem… not him taking money for something he’s giving nothing in return for.

This is why social media is worse than worthless.

You shouldn’t trust anyone here to be commenting in good faith, including these accusations.

Assume each and every comment is trying to manipulate you.

That’s how I try and maneuver. Bias is inevitable and propaganda works… so I just do my best to learn. Education is key to beating your personal biases back. I make enough of my own dumb decisions; I don’t need anyone else telling me how to feel about something, I can read and do that myself
