I can’t help but wonder what exactly is going on here. Are the good contractors scared of ICE taking them away, leaving talentless MAGA hacks as the only ones participating in this project?

Or maybe they’re aware Trump never pays others for their work, and this is an example of “you get what you pay for”?

Or it could be an example of top-down incompetence, where the workers are faithfully following a boss’s orders, but the boss is such an inept loser that this is what following their words gets?

Or maybe the workers hate Trump and this is their small way of protesting/sabotaging his plans?

    So many possibilities!

In this case there was no bid, which is supposed to be a rare government assessment when it can either only be done by one vendor due to technology, complication, or a deep history of success on the same project environment. I’m not sure what the federal limit is to trigger the bid process, but I know it’s lower than “millions” of dollars. Basically the finance office and corruption watchdogs are not doing their job here because they’ve been replaced by rubber stamps.

I think it’s like $15k lol, then up to $350k they can just get 3 bids in an informal process. Above that they are supposed to do the whole song and dance.
