Europe knows what the situation is. There is a delicate balance happening right now.

Europe is hoping America gets its shit together in 2 years and isn’t looking to prematurely burn any bridges.

The US is still ostensibly on the side of NATO and Ukraine, and can’t openly turn traitorous without consequence.

The treachery could be in secret. Trump and Putin could be making secret agreements. Trump is already moving troops out of Europe. Europe has to move away from Trump.

Since the orange chancre is obviously Putin’s puppet, with massive evidence already in the open to the point that we even know his KGB codename and this departing ambassador has cited that specifically as her reason for leaving, it seems clear why the US has not just quit NATO no matter how many times Trump has said he was wanted to quit NATO or was even planning to quit NATO.

The bottom line is that if the US leaves NATO, the US loses its ability to keep Ukraine out. This is extremely important to Putin, and has been all along, to the point of Putin demanding “legal guarantees” that Ukraine would never join NATO.

So instead of leaving NATO outright, Putin’s stooge in the White House is doing everything he can to destabilize and weaken NATO – and keep Ukraine forced out – without ever actually giving up his own ability to manipulate it on Putin’s ongoing behalf.

The American people elected Donald Trump twice, and before that they gave two terms to George W. Bush. If they “get their shit together in 2 years” it’ll just be another brief reprieve before the next fascist.

Maybe. But the future is hard to predict, so maybe not. So no reason to burn the bridges under Trump, unless we have to.

And even if it is only temporary, Russia is threatening to invade Europe now. So even a temporary 4 years reprieve under a Democrat President would be hugely valuable.

I don’t think this is true. I think that Europe is trying to separate its interests from the USA as quickly as it can without causing pain for European countries or inviting retaliation from the US.

I think Europe is preparing for the worst, but hoping for it not to happen.

But as an European, I appreciate the effort being made into becoming more sovereign.
