It’s all theater. The democrats are there to make normal people think there is someone “good” in the government. The only ones who actually change society meaningfully are the conservatives. This is because FDR passed the new deal to prevent a second civil war, and the owners of the US hated that so much that they’ve been walking back that shit for 100 years. Essentially, back in the “gilded age” working people were essentially slaves to the companies they worked for, paid in scrip only valid at company stores, forced to live in company housing. The working people started pushing back, with violence. The US government unsurprisingly put down these ‘protests’ working on behalf of the business interests.
