U.S. Vice President JD Vance said on April 14 that he is proud of Washington cutting off funding to Ukraine amid Russian aggression, listing it among the Trump administration’s top achievements.
Speaking at a Turning Point USA event in Athens, Georgia, Vance recalled being confronted by a Ukrainian-American over his calls to halt funding for Ukraine.
“And this person got really agitated at me because I was saying we should stop funding the Ukraine war,” Vance said.

Why?
Like, self determination and all that, yes. But is there a reason beyond the fundamental human right of a people to determine their own government that we should intervene in Russian power politics?
Do you need a reason beyond that? I’m confused by this question.
If you need reasons, here are two: Everyone wants less wars. Deny russia wealth and territory gains from waging war on other countries dissuades russia from starting more wars. Also quality of life and freedoms will be better when russia is not occupying your home.
Let’s say you’re arrival, and the United Kingdom suddenly wants to rule over you. Would you accept this change?
Or if you’re South American - should Spain be in control?
All autonomous countries that exists now should stay that way. No other country should invade and take control.
Right, I agree with that. The wording of the post makes it seem as though Russia shouldn’t be allowed to reestablish a union of countries through any means.
The Soviet Union was entered voluntarily. Ukraine was the first member nation.
The Soviet Union was forged through wars. Especially the states in the Caucasus did not enter voluntarily. Or rather, their initial governments after independence didn’t enter voluntarily.
