I’ve never had a Kiwi pie, but I’d like to hope you’ve toured around the regions and based your opinion on country bakery pies or on-point roadhouse pies rather than the standard city servo fair.
I managed to find one good sausage roll at the Southbank market one time (lived there for 8 years and was actively seeking out acceptable sausage rolls and pies the whole time), I blew the mind of the guy selling it by suggesting he should make some with bacon and cheese in the sausage meat.
As an Australian, English pies make me sad.

Their sausage rolls pale compared to their oceanic descendants too.
And they do this weird thing with their coffee where they put it in a little paper bag with a string. Tastes like shit too.
They should be embarrassed by what they call sausage rolls.
