Scientists say their work on fires and climate change could be lost as the agency moves its headquarters to Utah from Washington and shuts 57 research stations.
How much research is needed to know to rake the leaves… gees

Just hope some or all of the researchers accidentally back up all data onto their own devices for posterity.
The only hope that gets me through these announcements is that, should we make it through all of this without turning into ruin, the pendulum is going to swing so hard in the opposite direction that agencies like this and the national park service will not only have their funding restored, but increased to what it should actually be funded at in the first place.
Unless Trump and his project 2025 pals win their race to destroying democracy for good before next election.
Problem is that when you disperse research teams, it takes a decade or more to get back to where you were
Yeah, slim hope for sure. I just try to lean on the idea that enough in the center get activated from all of this that we can get modern New Deal that uses he conservation corps as a model for both environmental and scientific projects.
The giveaways are already in motion, the rich aren’t going to let themselves be taxed again, and you can see in realtime how they’re trying to make locations compete for the privilege of hosting them, with the smallest tax rates for ultra rich… no one is going to pay for a New New Deal, all the blood’s been wrung out of the middle class, and the rich are untouchable.
But I do like your optimism
Oh yeah, this totally isn’t going to end badly.
Record low snowpack across the rocky mountain west. We’ve already seen 85 degrees at 7500’…
