I’m reading a lot about how people are just generally shit these days. You know what fixes a bad attitude real quick? A good, genuine throttling.

That prick in the office? Just catch em alone after lunch and choke them for 10 seconds or so while you quietly whisper threats in their ear - problem solved.

Little shits bullying your kid at school? Choke that little fucker, then go choke their parents too for good measure.

You don’t even have to do it that hard, it’s not like you’re trying to kill anyone. Just scare em a little.

Choking works, let’s bring it back and make the world a better place.

Just a clarification, choking is when the airway is blocked by a foreign object.

You actually want to bring strangulation back, not choking.

I assume you’re a Westerner… Your entire culture was based on “might makes right”, it hasn’t done anything but make the world a worse place. No, what you need is values, what you need is belief in the value of righteousness. But people worship themselves, or money, and just chase the bag and sensations and that’s how you end up with a “society” of fearful, hateful, sociopathically selfish strangers. Once that’s set in, the “need” to choke people will disappear, but without it choking won’t do anything but just give more credence to the “might makes right” approach to life.

Yeah, Westerner here. I am describing how to deal with other westerners. The selfish sociopaths won’t understand why they should be nice to others until the blood flow to their brain has been restricted for a few moments. It’s like a reset button, if you will.

Idk if that’s gonna help, friend, they might just lie about understanding they did something wrong, then hold a silent grudge on you, then finally “retaliate” when the time is right. I think the reset needs to be different. Would America getting bombed for their sins make Americans more regretful and sane or simply more hateful and violent? 🤔

    • Lol, that’s just a human trait. Nothing exclusive to any region or civilization.

I was born in China to Han-Chinese parents. When I grew up, I was told “成者為王,敗者為寇” (Literally: Victors become kings, Losers become bandits"… Basically means the same as “Might makes right”)

Any criticism of the status quo and leaders is met with that.

The “没办法” (“Nothing we can do about it”) attitude lmfao… so prevalent in China…

Sounds the same meaning as しょうがない (Shō ga nai) (“it can’t be helped”) in Japanese

Or “c’est la vie” in French, or “is what it is” in English. I’m sure most languages have a version of this as we’ve all lived in societies.

But being a bandit is not right, I doubt your parents were elevating being an immoral thief, for example. That just sounds like a descriptive sentence, not a prescriptive one. And of course we all have the capacity for selfish evil, some societies have it as their main value/MO. Chinese people, from my experience in the world and with many Chinese immigrants, are very prosocial, family oriented, collectivist and avoid violence. Literally never have I ever seen or heard of anyone get harassed or violently mistreated by Chinese immigrants either in my own country or the ones I’ve lived in. 🤷

I recently decided to cut-off yet another vector of corporate spying and completely removed all autocorrect and spell-checking features from my phone and desktop. Typing requires more effort now, but the upside is avoiding all that nonsense!

If I could get a slide-out keyboard, like I had on my sidekick, or even a T9, I’d ditch autocorrect in a heartbeat.

I so miss the slide out keyboard! My first smartphone was the Motorola DROID R2D2 and I was fooled into thinking such an amazing slide out keyboard would be standard going forward.
