    I would take big al over our president now any day. I hate gangsters too generally, they make things more expensive for less value. But to his credit he was mainly circumventing bad laws prohibiting alcohol more people would continue to use than not.

    In Boardwalk Empire Capone came off as a real psycho though.

      I do tend to agree with you about gangsters and organized crime, but within the system we currently have and the situation we find ourselves in, gangs also represent a second power from the state. And while obviously there are risks and pitfalls, we may need to start participating in a bit of syndicalism soon

        I agree, I’ve been told by socialists that Karl Marx and engles talked about how organized crime, the criminal classes, were used by the state to oppress the working population, and everything I have seen has reinforced that, not the least reading about the labor movement with organized crime being tight with the cops and Fielding strike Breakers and then of infiltrating labor.

        But, I think the gangs should be unionized, it would solve a lot of problems. The cartels too but that is kind of outside of our wheelhouse in the US here.
