I’ll admit that I was enjoying Trump flailing around like a moron, taking one loss after another for the first couple of weeks.

I’m not saying that my Schadenfreude was worth all the death and destruction, just that I could appreciate it.

But that’s all gone now, and I’m just left with the pit in my stomach. If this latest threat turns into a real tit-for-tat, it could spark the largest refugee crisis we’ve ever seen.

To say nothing of all the people that are gonna die in the third world because of a potential decade-long shock to global energy and fertilizer supplies.

All for the low low price of depriving third world farmers access to fertilizer and power for their homes, businesses, and hospitals.

When you think about it, all of the deaths from the famines that are about to be unleashed will also reduce demand for energy.

Those arent great, but literally everyone dies if we dont end fossil fuels, and this is apparently the only way to do that without ending capitalism

Which nobody actually wants to do, i guess.

Thats the big tell you dont actually give a shit about those third world farmers.

Well, one of us is saying that killing tens of millions of people in the global south is a price they’re willing to pay, and the other is me.

No. Im saying its a price that has been paid, and we may as well get something for it.

It’s not a price that had to be paid, though.

If the West had pursued electrification as hard as China did, they wouldn’t have even been interested in starting a war with Iran in the first place because oil would be less of a critical resource for the empire. They wouldn’t need to prop up Israel as their unsinkable aircraft carrier, they wouldn’t need to kidnap Maduro, none of this shit would even be happening.

But instead they clung to oil even as it became impossible to sustain, and now millions must die for nothing.

No. There were much less stupid much less destructive ways to do this.

But not under capitalism. Fits of inchoate violence and self destruction, disposing of lives by the millions, are the only way to error correct without ending capitalism. Moloch requires his sacrifice, as he is our one and only god.

And since none of us seem willing to apostacy, because that would be bad for some reason, im glad to see our daily sacrifice of innocent blood may at least bring tomorrow. Or a couple hours of it, at least.

At this point, Europe might be worse off than the developing countries. They can still get energy and fertilizer from Russia and Belarus. Meanwhile, Europe made itself entirely dependent on the US, and has no replacements. And the refugees will flood there too, so that will deepen the economic crisis.
