Okay fair points. Are you religious? Sounds like “Taking Responsibility” and “Receiving Punishment” are inseparable from your perspective.
IMO we wouldn’t have these problems if human beings weren’t fundamentally capable of being manipulated. As such I do have reservations about treating every single soldier like they’re a war criminal.
Lastly, I think one thing to feel no remorse and entirely another to say everyone categorically deserves what happens to them.
