    my thinkpad lappy has a 230w power supply. can usb-c do that?

    The latest USB-C Power Delivery Standard should do 240w, but not all USB-C ports are rated for it.

      There’s almost no support for PD that high yet across devices. It will definitely take some time to roll out. The only laptop I know that supports it is the Framework 16, and it requires an extra purchase of a $150 charger.

      Nor are a lot of cables. 100W is far more likely, at least for a while, since that was a standard for a fair while as it is.
