what planet are you on now? cuz i dont think we are on the same one.
anti-trans sentiment is still alive and well, and default for much of the planet im on.

the issue is that its very old. when running it, you will use a ton more electricity and be a lot slower than even a 5-8 year old unused retail box/workstation.
yes, you could throw ubuntu on there and it will work fine. then you could toss docker on there and play with some container apps for the kids maybe… like a mintecrafter server.
but, like i said, youd be better off digging a more recent workstation out of some garbage can and doing the same thing.
e. ha, just checked that is a desktop/workstaton box…i thought you were talkin a real HP server… they have much larger power requirements. that little box you have there would be fine for a little mini server for light apps.

pulease. long term plannig my asshole.
the modern world is littered with the failures to ‘long term plan’. i remeber thinking the world would be run by sears, ibm and xerox
the world has shifted to ‘just in time’ supply chains… warehousing is considered liability. the wealthy people youre referring to have globally diversified… it would take actual catastrophe to affect them because when youre that rich even a recession is opportunity.

these corps are run by humans who have sold out. they only care about the next quarter… the next bonus check.
the world is far more fragile than those in nice comfy cities could ever imagine
to mitigate real disaster on a global scale would take solving for human greed. good luck.

we were grabbin apps in the usenet binaries by the mid-late 80s

your zip code is prolly a bigger influence than anything
more of a rant than a showerthought… but i guess if this is what runs through youre head when youre wet…

the world needs ditch diggers too
i feel like there are rockstars in this category… like jets and cubs fans

hahahhahaha headed?? dude weve been heading that way for as long as ive been alive… the fact that we dont have universal health care and spend a trillion$ a year on a military despite being the biggest assholes on the planet is a giant fucking reminder that we literally are and have been for awhile now…
the public is now managed via fox news, all your ‘representatives’ could not possibly care less about anything more than their own self interests (bought and paid for!)
laws dont matter, rich people do not face any consequences for almost anything.
where arent we a plutocracy?? that we still pretend our votes dont usher in more big business??

florida rejoice!

i would expect there is a thing they would call the persons ‘effects’ or ‘estate’ which can have a negative valuation. the landlord could file a claim against the dead persons effects, and receive compensation from that… maybe

ha, k. i get it, and youre not wrong about gaining those skills.
I would think a good therapist would be able to provide exactly the kind of inter-human training needed to achieve what youre discussing. the tools exist, the people are out there. can any of those who really want that help afford it? prolly not.
we don’t have a ‘we need this thing to exist’ problem… we have a ‘no one wants to pay for that thing that already exists’ problem, as usual.
that said, you pointed out this causes a lot of societal problems though, and it seems many of the most vocal or problematic are those people (men) who dont think they are the problem at all. no amount draggin them to the help well is going to make them drink.

reminds me of the old joke… ‘q: how many psychiatrists does it take to change a lightbulb? a: only one, but the lightbulb has to want to change’
doesnt matter how good the training is if the person doesnt want it.

it kinda sounds like you failed to back them up and are attempting to restore them from a non-backup.
and yeah, pulling an integral, configured component and expecting it to just run fine seems kinda… psychotic.

might be a bit heavy for this, but ive been having fun with nextcloud… its caldav based, i think. ive got it syncin with outlook calendars and the mobile client seems to throw shit in my face as needed
havent really messed with the contact stuff though

you misunderstand… he was convicted of 34 felonies. its the punishment phase that took his bank account and affiliates into consideration
thats the same for almost everyone who is a billionaire, its very fair!
you should check out the new Nova episodes on dogs and whether the dog buttons we train them on can be considered communicative.
