Congressperson says US president and Marco Rubio are tearing apart transatlantic alliance
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has accused Donald Trump of tearing apart the transatlantic alliance with Europe and of seeking to introduce an “age of authoritarianism”, as she condemned his administration’s foreign policy in front of its allies’ top policymakers at the Munich Security Conference.
Speaking at a panel on populism on Friday, Ocasio-Cortez outlined what she called an “alternative vision” for a leftwing US foreign policy, challenging the Trump administration’s shift to the right in front an audience of US allies who have grown increasingly wary of the US’s increasingly nationalist – and militaristic – global posture.
In her remarks, Ocasio-Cortez said Trump and Marco Rubio, the secretary of state, were “looking to withdraw the United States from the entire world so that we can turn into an age of authoritarianism”, as they sought to “carve out a world where Donald Trump can command the western hemisphere and Latin America as his personal sandbox, where Putin can saber rattle around Europe and try to bully our own allies there”.

The first “joke” I heard after the pedo took power was at work from my manager, “He saved us from having a woman president TWICE!” Then he smiled and laughed. Gross behavior in the workplace
While Kamala and Hillary both were shitty candidates for a variety of reason, there’s also so much ingrained misogyny. I think AOC could be a great candidate but even if our elections would be fair in 2 years, which they won’t, there’s still a significant portion of male Americans who just won’t vote for a woman president.
I am glad she is showing people, at least in Europe, that not all of our policymakers are working with this administration and do not wish for the Auth. American future we are sprinting towards. Fuck, this ended up being a /rant.
That’s lovely and all, but the horse has bolted. The only sensible approach is to sever as many ties as possible with the USA. It would be madness to trust a country which has demonstrated it can flip this quickly into fascism.
I do not think the USA is uniquely misogynist. It’s not like the USA is more misogynist than Mexico and they elected a woman as president. South Korea is at the forefront of misogyny; Andrew Tate is considered tame there, and they had a woman president.
I bet if your manager was presented with a woman president was promised universal healthcare would vote for her. The sentiment would likely be, “Yeah, I don’t like her attitude, but I’ll take the healthcare” or something along those lines.
Good policies will win over bigotry every single time. The USA, beacon of chattel slavery, elected a black man twice because he promised a better future.
I agree with that, I also don’t think the USA is unique in its misogyny. It definitely exists elsewhere in the world. It’s gross, to be very tame and systematically depraved to be more honest with how I feel. Honestly that one “joke” has permanently inspired me that we need more women leaders.
Also, he is from Canada and openly supports the Right and most things about the US right now. I think he is from Alberta, based on previous stories told but I havent asked him directly. So in his particular case, seems like a coin flip for good policy to move him.
I think youre right that good policies can convince people, but right now with how angry and generally polar everyone in the USA is at the working class level, nobody is listening to policy.
