From a local pizza place. (at least I think its local, pretty sure its not a chain)
No I didn’t do this just for a joke, I actually like it. Problem? Catch me outside, how 'bout that?
I’m tired of pretending that the sweet and tangy flavors of pineapple don’t perfectly compliment the meat and tomato on a pizza.
Well said, Spice Hoarder
The most common variety of pizza is made with a fruit sauce but people then act like Pineapple is a bridge too far.
I like to put pineapple on pizza I make at home. But I buy fresh pineapple. Canned pineapple is just too bland.

My one criticism of “pineapple on pizza” actually has fuck all to do with the pineapple (and while you did it here, you also didn’t. Let me explain.)
The issue is that the common pairing of “sweet ham and sweet pineapple” is a grave mistake. Both toppings fill the same role, and doubling with no contrast is too much imo. Some add salty bacon which does help, and you’ve added salty pepperoni and savory beef which further helps (though in my opinion crowds it, the ideal pizza is 3 toppings, but still way better than just ham/pine, this pizza looks good!)
Ideally, the best way to utilize the sweet pineapple on a pizza is to combine it with salty pepperoni and spicy jalapenos (if you can handle them).
I had a pizza in New York once that was pineapple and ricotta which was pretty legit
Ricotta is a cheat code, good on every pizza!
I had a Pepperoni, Sausage, and Ricotta once that was pretty good
I prefer pizza on my pineapple.

Isn’t that a pineapple crust pizza?
I love pineapple on pizza and I almost reflexively down voted this… I should probably look at that in myself.
xD
Pineapple on pizza is great once in a while. I like to pair it with jalapeños.
I’ll never understand how people think it’s completely okay to edit what others like.
These same people that give others grief about what they eat are the same people that will bitch and moan about others being all up in their shit about the music/movies they like, where they work, how they live, who they live with….
Life is short, eat the pineapple pizza like the world is watching, and proudly tell those that don’t like it to kindly fuck themselves.
I was a hater. I wasn’t like in anyone’s face about it or anything but I looked down on it.
Then I had the Holy Trinity. Pepperoni, Pineapple, Jalapeño. Salty, spicy, sweet.
I’ve been saying this for years! Meat, sweet, and heat. The pizza trifecta.
It’s one of those things that should be obvious, but I was oblivious. Likely from pizza topping stigmas lmao
Read up on the time Christianity started a war with itself over flat bread vs not flat bread. People love to control others and its just so fucking weird. Ive got enough social anxiety and life problems without thinking about controlling what everyone else does.
In my experience it’s mostly Italians - ‘that’s not REAL pizza/bolognese/carbonara/etc’ whenever other people try adding their own twist to things.
Kind of ironic how angry they get about it, given pasta came from China and tomatoes are from the Americas, so their entire cuisine is imported.
Pizza as we know it isnt even from Italy its from the US. Im pretty sure ‘Italian’ pizza was just some dough with sauce on it.
pineapple belongs on pizza, so good
Oh, this is new. I thought pineapple with chicken or fish. Didn’t about pineapple with pepperoni. Might need to try that
The classic is with ham which I loved as a kid but I think now it’s sort of essential to have some pepperoni or salami or something in addition to or instead of ham if having pineapple. It needs that intensity to contrast the pineapple, the grease too, it’s a part of it, mixes with juice from the pineapple and just produces the most “pizza” of tastes, it’s like pure monosogoodium pizzamate. Chicken, I mean it’s probably fine but in general chicken on pizza is pretty dry and bland and it’s doing nothing to compliment the pineapple particularly.
Actually the chicken on pizza shouldn’t, and doesn’t have to, be dry (though you’re right it often is, they use frozen).
Start with fresh not frozen, chop it up appropriately, fry in a pan with a little texas pete mild buffalo to season, and then use that fully cooked as a topping but do it half under the cheese (sprinkle half, chicken, pine, jal, sprinkle half).
That said, the pine juice actually helps compensate for the dry chicken, and if you’re feeling savory instead of salty it is a great pairing too. Doubly so with jal (for both).
Pineapple is amateur hour, there are so many more crazy things to put on pizza.
Also less crazy but still different. Anyone want Tandoori Chicken Pizza? It’s like BBQ but with an Indian food twist.
I have a bigger problem with the minced beef.
I dont know, it works well on Lahmacun, but in the photo it doesnt look all too appetising.
“Sausage, pepperoni, bacon, ham” and I just custom added pineapple
I mean sometimes food doesn’t exactly look the best, but food is for tasting, not for looking lol
So the crumbly bits are supposed to be sausage? Like english breakfast sausage?
Sometimes I think about trying a pizza with pineapple but there’s just so many pizzas we wind up having something else.
One of my favorite pizzas is a bacon cheeseburger pizza with pickle slices so I’m no judge of food!
I eat this pizza and I add mustard. Sue me. Fuck you.
Taco pizza?
Just pineapple and ham? I sleep.
Add seasoned and cured meats? Real shit!
Culinarily speaking, I think the mix of sweet and savory is a criminally underutilized combo.
Yes but what about radishes?
idk I think that’s a bit too sour for my liking.
I had it with rice and its… meh…
I mean I think I tried some fried tofu cooked with it and it’s fine
not too big if a fan
don’t think it’d taste too good on a pizza
I mean Pineapple by itself isn’t that great either, you need meat to make it “balanced”, the saltiness of meat + sweet/sour of pineapple is so balanced.
a bit too sour
Radishes? Sour?
What kind of radishes are you most familiar with? I’ve never had a sour radish; but I’ve only ever had two or three kinds and there are tons of varieties. 🤷♂️
Isn’t radish = 酸菜?
Sorry idk how to language xD
I assume he meant something like 櫻桃蘿蔔? Suan cai isn’t in the genus of Raphanus.
🤷♂️
Only Asian language I can get by with is Japanese and I’m not even super good at it. I do know there are LOTS of things called a radish, tho. I love sour stuff so I just kinda wanted to know what kind to try it myself lol
