Why censor truth when you can flood the comm channels with tons of misleading, fabricated, utterly bonkers conspiracy theory bullshit? If 99% is fake news, chances are the people won’t belive that remaining 1%.

That’s why Donny et all keeps yelling “freedom of speech” at the top of their lungs in Europe’s general direction. That’s what’s at stake. If Europe imposes journalism standards on social media, it is that much harder to spin crap. Lying to get the power actually works. If Donnie gets his way, Brexit will in retrospect be a mere appetiser.

AI is going to make this so much worse. It can make unlimited fake news including photo and video ‘evidence’. And everyone can have their own to fit their preferred personal narrative. We truly do live in times.

Yeah honestly I feel that’s the universal problem the world in general has.

What’s worse, our “vetted” sources have all been compromised. Mainstream news is corrupt as hell… all owned by a tiny portion of rich assholes. As trust in them wanes, the focus moves to the “independent” creators on youtube, and instagram influencers, podcastors etc…

Of which many of them are actually getting paid by the same billionares, as scandal after scandal shows, and of course rich monstrocities like Meta, Google, Musk… have the power to signal boost the ones they want to, and to minimize the growth of ones they don’t.

I forget what it was but I saw a video about some sort of conspiracy theory and thought if it were true the video would get taken down. Then I thought actually, having it taken down would just make it look true.

This is what Russia did in the 90s onward. No one knows what the truth is anymore and it has made it impossible to get everyone behind a unified cause such as ousting Putin.

It is not a coincidence that the same thing is happening here. Russia has long failed to compete with western democracies, especially economically, and has found success in undermining them as they have their own people. This makes them easier to control, to weaken, and ultimately, defeat.
