For awhile it was single downvotes, but it seems that moved up to 2-3 on each comment. Even the most benign stuff gets hit, the pattern is clear.
Can I find this person and block them from seeing my posts? Never really delved into how lemmy works.
Probably doesn’t matter much because after awhile the forget and leave me alone for a bit.

I fed a couple of your comments into lemvotes and found out who it was pretty easily. I imagine this is a bannable offense somewhere?

Looks like a normal short term lemmy fight, someone didn’t like what they said in a thread and opened their history and downvoted everything on the first screen. Going back 3 days and the downvotes stop.
lemmy.world appears to be their main account, this seems to be the post that triggered them do do their downvoting spree: https://lemmy.world/post/41260627
Looks like the sock puppet master was angry for about 20 minutes, and got tired of manually downvoting. Still pretty terrible vote manipulation making lemmy a hostile place.

I think on the original offending post, OP made some somewhat inflammatory comments about ADHD and Autism further down. I imagine the downvoter felt personally hurt by these comments, hence the temporary spree, driven mostly by emotion. I don’t agree with the vote manipulation but not knowing their full story I would caution against people coming across this and retaliating against this person. It seems like it was just a short response and hopefully they have had a chance to cool off now.
I think this is their main account: https://lemvotes.org/user/[email protected]
Why do you think that?
It’s 2 years old, as opposed to the sock puppet ones which are 4 months old. It’s voting the same way as the other 3 also. I guess it doesn’t really matter which is the main, just thought I’d add it regardless since it wasn’t mentioned.
I’ve looked at the voting patterns and I can’t establish the link you mentioned, the falsewhite accounts are obviously alts/sockpuppets of each other, that is all I can say
43 downvotes across 2 minutes but at a 4 hours earlier then the other downvoting falsewhite accounts.
All targeting the same person as the other 3 accounts, 4 hours apart? That’s quite a coincidence if it’s not the same person. My guess is they first went through with their main account, then decided to do the same later with their other accounts. Either way, it’s the exact same behavior as the others, so it’s worth calling out in the exact same way.

Neat! Don’t think I have the energy to do much about it, but that’s a great site, thank you very much!
Lemvotes is a pathway to many discoveries some consider to be depressing.
Surprised the offender has a db0 account…
For anyone else wondering:
Divisions by zero lemmy.dbzer0.com
Damn, they have Matrix setup.
Because of course they do
Yeah… there are a couple of toxic peeps I found from DB0, but I think it might work regardless. I could take a look and see.
Edit: Taking a look at the sight, it’s really good looking. Too bad their CoC is a thing, as that’s going to cause a lot of problems. Any CoC is bad for a community, and is how you do ethical source software, which I’m wholly against.
What’s the issue with their code of conduct, or having them in general?
Basically, a CoC can be the opposite of what it intended to be, as it can be weaponized by people who want to start problems in a community. They can be vague, punishment can be selective, and they can be confusing messes. I tried to find something on how CoC’s are destructive in this manner, but I don’t recall what it was.
What specifically about the CoC will cause issues? Can you provide examples or specific concerns? Your comments aren’t making a lot of sense in the context of OP.
I was essentially commenting on a separate comment, not OP’s post in particular.
As for concerns about the CoC, people can read the CoC and learn how to bend the rules so as to get people in trouble. That was my huge red flag if there was a CoC.
