Richard Grenell, the Kennedy Center’s chairman, said in a statement on Monday night that the artists canceling shows were “far-left political activists” and that they had been booked by previous leadership. “Boycotting the arts to show you support the arts is a form of derangement syndrome,” he said.

After Mr. Redd canceled the Christmas Eve concert, Mr. Grenell called it “classic intolerance” and threatened a $1 million lawsuit.

These morons are so delusional, it hurts.

The NY Times didn’t call it the Trump and Kennedy Center… He’s gonna have another tantrum.

I wonder how long it will take before it occurs to The Kennedy Center board that restoring the sign to what it is legally supposed to say may also restore people’s interest in attending events at The Kennedy Center. But functionally I bet there is a window of opportunity here, as the longer this goes on, the more damage to the reputation of The Kennedy Center will occur. People, performers and audiences will move on to another venue pretty quickly, I suspect.

Trump has effectively shut down the Kennedy Center for the rest of his term. Maybe he can get Kid Rock to do a residency there. Or he can turn it into something like “Comedy Mothership”, and just have shitty MAGA acts churning through it. Nobody from DC will go regardless, and the MAGA faithful will only take so many road trips to the city to pump attendance.
