Repo workers sweating in the background.
The robots stole our jobs! next they’re coming for your cars!
This is actually amazing… I don’t see valets very often and when I do they arent usually worth it but I can imagine this tech making a huge difference in busy car parks. Maybe I’ll get to see one in 10 years.
I want one of these so I can move everyone’s cars one spot over in the parking lot.
I want one, but only if it can move assholes that park on the sidewalk
It’s good that someone finally invented a way to move cars around. Can’t think of any other way you’d get them from point a to point b.
I can see a handful of benefits to technology like this.
-
You don’t need the owners keys to move the vehicle. Thus you can retrieve or even rearrange vehicles at any time.
-
Better for the environment. You reduce unnecessary gas usage since the bots use electricity.
-
Can be used indoors. No gas means no fumes which means parking garages wouldn’t need expensive ventilation systems to remove the CO2 gasses
-
Better mobility. These can turn on a dime and move sideways. That means a parking garage that fits more cars and takes up a smaller footprint.
-
Potentially safer for the cars. This one rides on them actually perfecting the technology, but the bots could eliminate the risk of car damages due to human error.
Granted, I see this less as a technology for rich snobs and more as a thing for packed cities or huge businesses.
-
Parking isn’t always next to the destination.
Good, unless you have some disability it shouldn’t be.
So are you pro valet parking or not? I’m trying to figure out why you oppose nearby parking, genuinely curious.
Can’t wait for all the trains that have a stop directly in front of the place I want to go. So convenient!
“I’m so privileged and selfish that I will burn the planet down and kill everyone before having to walk more than a block or use public transport.”
Lol
Cool but I have never seen an automated parking garage where i live , i guess that would be the main usage, or some kind of towing too ,
But is it anywhere close to cost effective?
The funniest part of these to me is that even with this, the business behind it will expect you to tip them lol.
Just throw a handful of old batteries at the robot
Pretty sure I’ve seen vids of cops using these too.
