And I think it’s because they don’t want her stepping into Charlie’s shoes and becoming a competing influence in a crowded world (though honestly I don’t think she has much of a chance because she’s a woman and maga is entirely too male-centric). But she’s just starting to try to pull together a power base, and suddenly, miraculously, she’s accused of being trans. If she doesn’t fight the rumors, they’ll get more outrageous and if she does fight then, she loses momentum. I’m not sure who’s pulling this, but if I had to place a bet, I’d guess Fuentes.
