    I vaguely remember as a kid my parents being asked to show their ID at the grocery store when paying with a credit card. I think they were checking that the names matched.

        It was always a business policy, not a government one like the requirements for buying liquor or cigarettes.

      Wait is that where Trump is pulling the grocery ID shit from, I kinda remember that being a thing for cards but I knew it was just for cards. Did his stupidity and/or dementia fuck up that concept so he now thinks you need an ID for the grocer.

        Back then, where you normally would sign on a credit card, many many people would write “see picture id” instead.

        Honestly, if 1 of 50 checkout people asked for a picture id, i would be surprised. No one cared then either.

      What decade was that? I could see how Donbald’s brain might be frozen in some decade like the 1970s or the 1980s.
