The Senate is passing legislation that would nullify U.S. tariffs on Canada. It is happening just as President Donald Trump is engaged in trade talks in Asia as well as an increasingly bitter trade spat with U.S.’s northern neighbor that is one of its largest economic partners.
He’s a real American pioneer of just ignoring any pretense of law, seems to be working just fine for him. I emplore the rest of the coterie to keep giving the sane people rope to hang them with, when and if any accountability happens
I know he’ll just ignore it anyway, I’m just referring to the fact that he has veto power to override a resolution on cancelling tariffs at all. Although I’d imagine it’s really that congress is just ceding the power in the first place, but having legislation about tariffs being something that can be vetoed seems like a dumb idea.
No doubt, that was the first lever of power he pushed into this regime change for a reason. If anything comes of all this madness, I really hope it comes with gigantic overhaul of these broken systems
