- However, House Republicans have passed new rules that allow leaders to prevent such resolutions from getting a vote in that chamber, and Trump could veto the legislation even if it did clear Congress. - Ignoring the issue of the House being unwilling to pass it, how can the President veto a resolution on tariffs when that is a duty of congress and not the executive? He shouldn’t be able to impose them in the first place, but it’s legal for him to block their cancellation? Amazed this country lasted as long as it has. - He’s a real American pioneer of just ignoring any pretense of law, seems to be working just fine for him. I emplore the rest of the coterie to keep giving the sane people rope to hang them with, when and if any accountability happens - I know he’ll just ignore it anyway, I’m just referring to the fact that he has veto power to override a resolution on cancelling tariffs at all. Although I’d imagine it’s really that congress is just ceding the power in the first place, but having legislation about tariffs being something that can be vetoed seems like a dumb idea. - No doubt, that was the first lever of power he pushed into this regime change for a reason. If anything comes of all this madness, I really hope it comes with gigantic overhaul of these broken systems
