I think people in this community tend to think of car dependency from a North American centric view, so it’s interesting to hear a Filipino perspective and how similar the problems, misguided infrastructure proposals, and ignored real solutions are.

      Oh god in Seattle we had the Viaduct for years. There was a walkway to the ferries right under it, like cars passing directly above your head, 2 feet away. It was so worn away that you could see through to the tires above you, driving on exposed rebar. It was horrifying. Err uh, I mean

      THEN THEY TORE IT DOWN AND TRAFFIC IS HORRIBLE. IT’S THE WORST! They replaced it with a park and a waterfront walkway. Stupid people out walking around! I bet no one even goes there because there is no way to drive right there!
