In the second week of the U.S. government shutdown, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notified some 1,300 employees they would be laid off — then rescinded hundreds of those notices within hours, a person familiar with the matter said.
The Trump administration is set to lay off entire offices and hundreds of CDC workers as part of mass job cuts during the federal shutdown, four sources told Reuters on Saturday.
A crowd-sourced list from CDC employees, reviewed by Reuters, suggested several units, including the entire Washington office, were targeted for termination. Two sources within the CDC and two at other health agencies confirmed the list’s validity.
It’s not only Democrats, there’s a surprising number of Republicans who publicly disagreed with Trump’s cuts. Marjorie Taylor Greene is louder than I would have expected in taking the Democrats side on the issue.
I think she is just afraid of her voters, looks like Georgia is heavily affected by this.
For example interview with Senator Warnock:

Greene also supposedly is for releasing Epstein file, but when there was a vote to add amendment to another bill she voted against it.
I think she is just acting in front of her base.
BTW regarding the funding bill she actually said she is in favor of the nuclear option, meaning remove the 60 vote requirement, pass the funding bill and then maybe make some adjustments benefiting her state.
Republicans don’t want to do it, because:
This has settled, in my mind at least, who is the more awful person between her and Boebert. Not saying either of them are great but they were running neck and neck for biggest piece of trash in Congress. Between this and the Boebert handjob, I think it’s settled.
That being said, I feel like Boebert has been uncharacteristically quiet of late.
I feel dirty that I’m agreeing with things she’s saying. But hey, I’m not gonna argue for now.
