I don’t care for debate so I’m just gonna share this tofu stir-fry recipe I like. I sub gochujang for the sambal oelek and skip the peanut garnish
I get a little spike in the morning but it’s usually over in less than an hour. Then I get hit with task paralysis for the rest of the day, spiral when I go to bed, and if I’m lucky I’ll get tired enough to slip into a mildly dissociative hyperfocused state.
I also can’t do creative things. I have too many ideas, they don’t mesh, I get frustrated and give up. And nothing is ever just right. There’s always something to nitpick, something that needs to be changed. Writing is so hard. I have the thoughts, but I struggle to put them into words. When I do find the words, they never feel right. Sometimes it takes me an hour to write an email. It all just gets really frustrating sometimes.
It is absolutely a thing. Forgetfulness, absent-mindedness, short attention span, etc. are common symptoms of ADHD. The meds generally wear off at the end of the day, so by the time the next day rolls around, you’re back at baseline, which includes the forgetfulness.
ADHD can be incredibly debilitating and I think it’s something that most people don’t really grasp despite how well-known the disorder is.
TTYD is one of my favorite games of all time and I made the mistake of playing Origami King.
It was a mix of disappointment, despair, resignation… I’ve truly never felt so insulted by a game. They stomped on my childlike joy and wonder like a vat of grapes in Napa Valley. Sickening
I’d been considering asking my doctor about this but I figure it’s not going to make much of a difference at this point. I have ADHD and got my hearing tested a few years ago because I was concerned about how often I couldn’t understand what people were saying.
Nope, my hearing is perfect. My brain just has a hard time decoding sounds sometimes I guess. A lot of times people sound like they’re mumbling. I’ve started telling people that I’m hard of hearing and asked them to speak a bit louder, slower, and more clearly. Makes a big difference!
Ask your doctor to formally evaluate you for it. Explain what symptoms you have that make you suspect the diagnosis (including how long you’ve experienced them, what the impact is on your day-to-day functioning, etc.). Your doctor will determine whether you meet the diagnostic criteria + discuss possible treatments (e.g., therapy, medication).
I was in a meeting with one of my school’s principals and he whipped one of these out. I had my own pen to sign with but I kinda wanted to ask if I could use his lol
Congrats! Remember to be kind to yourself if you have some trouble adjusting to the new routine since it’s been a while <3
