much easier to look for guidance for coding in english instead of my native language, syntax makes more sense too. Though personally i would wish more stuff was properly translated into finnish instead of english slowly gnawing at it.

i remember there being some twitter trend around it, kind of like the “me too” movement too. I think that is what started the current usage of the word.
Also, why would they invent such a word and not some more derogatory one? “Woke” has quite positive spin, being aware and stuff. The reason they use it as negative word is because its against everything they believe in. Woke people are literally a threat to them because they want to keep hating and abusing others. They want to keep doing the shit they are doing and anyone no indifferent to it is a problem.
