Sure, Notepad transfers to other GUI programs better than Nano transfers to Vim or EMacs. But that has little to do with Notepad and more to do with GUIs typically supporting similar shortcuts. Like I said, it’s an imperfect analogy.

I think you missed my original point. Most people wouldn’t describe themselves as “good” or “bad” at Notepad or Nano. They’re simple programs designed for simple editing. The learning curve is very low for both. Advanced editors have differing learning curves, but they’re all a lot more steep.

And my original point was that, because many people do only simple editing in a CLI and more advanced editing in a GUI, it makes sense that Nano became the most popular for CLI due to its shallow learning curve.

Nano is to EMacs/Vim as Notepad is to Notepad++ or VSCode (Nano has features Notepad doesn’t, but you get the point).

I don’t do a ton of code editing directly on the CLI. I do things like change parameters in config files or open a file to read it quickly. If I’m doing more heavy editing, I’ll use a GUI editor (with an SFTP extension if I’m working on a headless server). So programs like Vim and EMacs have never been useful for me.

To each their own (and I have all the respect for anyone who knows how to exit Vim without looking it up) but I’m guessing the majority of people have a similar experience.

A simple, “yeah I don’t have textured hair, it’s a sensory thing for me” should clarify any confusion.

I don’t have any insider knowledge, but I’d guess they’re basically just rendering the html without JS or the original CSS, probably with a few tweaks. They may also look for certain tags (like “content”) to prioritize the main section. Web developers have a vested interest in notating the content for SEO reasons.

Short answer: you’d be in a gay relationship (assuming you identify as male). Whether you take the label “homosexual” or not is up to you. The labels matter less than you and your partner communicating well.

That’s true. But it’s also not trivial to implement an app that may have its “RAM” located on disk. It’s a complex problem with multiple solutions, and giving apps the freedom to do what they want with it is the way Android structured things.

Contact the developer of Voyager and request a feature to automatically save drafts. This is handled at the app level in Android, and it’s 100% possible for the app to handle this transparently.

This is it, and it’s arguably a much better model. Apps are able to manage their own persistent storage, and you can always be sure that your RAM is actually RAM (and not deal with the speed and timing issues that result in you “RAM” actually being flash memory).

I don’t know if it would give you the speed boost you’re looking for. That being said, if you’re using something like Steam, you can move files between drives on command. So if there’s a particular game you’re playing for a while, you could move that to your SSD and then move it back to your HDD when you move on to something else.

Those discussions happened and people got tired of having them. It’s a bit like having prostelitizers come to your door–chances are, you know how that discussion is going to go and would rather not waste everyone’s time and energy.

The people who are in denial about what the government could do or has done are not going to be convinced of anything by having a discussion about it–they abandoned reason decades ago.

No. Every time we’ve tried, the universe resets itself and then spawns twelve more JS frameworks. A few universes ago, npm didn’t even exist. Now look at us.

I’ve been complimented on my word choices before, and I’ve complimented others as well. But it doesn’t come up often. Even when an interesting word is used, it’s not always the right time or place to explicitly compliment the speaker on it.
