That part threw me off. Last time i used it, I did incremental backups of a 500 gig disk once a week or so, and it took 20 seconds max.

Having used pixel phones as long as they’ve been around, and used some AOSP based OS, I cannot imagine what it would be to not be able to block network access on a per-application basis.
Calculator app? No, you don’t need to read my contacts or network access to ship it to God knows who. Keyboard app that is an ipso keylogger, also no. Launcher, no… Image gallery? Fuck off.
I trust companies to do the wrong thing, always. They all sell your data. If they ever get caught, the punishment will be less than what they made by it, so why wouldn’t they.

There is no requirement for it, and can be disabled
“Exposure therapy” might be a helpful term for finding literature on this. It’s effective for certain fobias under certain conditions. I’ve only heard about it for anxiety related treatment. Not sure how horror movies would fit in. Best of luck! (ps: not a therapist, but know therapists who make use of it)
Considering that FFI is very much a thing, I’m finding it difficulty to understand the point it’s trying to make.

FFS, this is quoting you:
One in every 20 computers. Not too shabby.
Then someone clarified.
No, Statcounter measures usage; not machines.
Then you derped back with
So the headline is a lie and it’s not 5% of market share?
Then I made the mistake of indulging.
Go fuck off.

Good question. How about you share what it is you don’t understand? “Market share” depends on some understanding. If it was “Linux machines”, there are more than 100 for every 1 of windows or macs. But fewer than one out of these 100 has a monitor, mouse and keyboard connected to them.
Ps: feel free to fuck off, if you’re going to be rude and ignorant.

I think it is acceptably incorrect. Linux machines are everywhere, in a lot more things than what most are aware of. If you counted all “machines” in the virtual sense, that runs one of MacOS, Windows or Linux, I’d be surprised if there is more than 1% for MacOS and Windows combined.
I also have a friend who is wondering the same.

Hm. I was thinking of the problem in terms of “what is”, and not so much “what it looks like”. SG-1 is a good example, where the argument is that there is no actual magic. Its “sufficiently advanced = looks like magic” not “… = magic”.
I interpreted the question to consider actual existence of magic. So, I suppose it hinges on how “magic” is actually defined. Where I thought it would be some kind of forces / energy that is manipulated by will or tools. Hm… I suppose this is a lot more nuanced.

Isn’t it always different things? “Magic” being a different set of rules for how the world works. Technology being the things that can be achieved given the rules. And, whether advanced technology is influenced and how, depend on those rules, lore and culture.
If for example magic is only available to some people with the ability or what not. Technology will always be available regardless.

That’s such a weird take, I’m not sure it’s not an attempt at rage baiting.

I got the lifetime pass 5 years ago. I’ve switched to JF because of the disappointment so far about a year ago.
JF is exactly what I wanted and needed plex to be, and everything added since is a worsened product. The lifetime pass was an attempt at getting the peace of mind of “then you just have it”. If anything, only FOSS can give that.

Thanks for the reminder to update

I had mixed feelings about the whole Ondsel thing. And, please correct me if I’m wrong.
Most of the significant features in 1.0, that supposedly came from Ondsel, are things that I’ve been using for perhaps 3 years now, with a fairly well known branch of FreeCAD called Linkstage3 by a user that goes by RealThunder.
I don’t know how much he was involved in Ondsel, or the merging of those features into FreeCAD, but it sure looked like a whole lot of great work wasn’t credited to mind boggling amount of work by one person.
I still use the Linkstage3 branch, because it has a lot more features still, than what was present in the 1.0 pre-release i tried some months ago. Maybe things have changed since then.

Sure, but, what does that have to do with the AI answer? Wait… Are you an AI?

Hadn’t heard of it before. Searched for it, and came across both Path of Diablo, and Project diablo. Some polls suggested preferring the latter 2:1. I haven’t played D2 in a few decades (sheesh). Any thoughts on comparing those mods?
It might seem like it, especially for late diagnoses, but I don’t think the ratio of individuals with ADHD is increasing.
They are getting hit with an information overload unlike anything previous generations have had to deal with. And, what was possible to cope with earlier in life, now in mid-life, results in a choice of either a mental breakdown from exhaustion, or medication that helps deal with the symptoms.
There are some technological and cultural trends that exasperates the issue, especially short form social media, which I think governments have failed at protecting the younger generation from. It’s not like it’s an easy thing to fix. Try banning sugar from the sugar addicted children who’s sense of identify and self worth is made out of sugar. Not to mention capitalistic forces salivating over how dirt cheap and easy it is to manipulate them en mass.
