Yeah I should’ve written it as “It is not like that for me”. Though this is the first time I’ve heard someone who meditates compare it to doing drugs.

Well everyone is different. I practiced Zazen and nobody ever told me of experiencing a high or altered awareness. That’s only my experience though and I’m not trying to discount yours :)

Well I guess they can. I have no firsthand experience with psychedelics etc. but it doesn’t sound like the same kind of experience.

No, meditation is not like drugs. If anything it’s like exercise for a very particular part of your mind. It can train the mind to be calm, patient, observant and focused. I practiced for many years. In my experience it does not in and of itself bring any sort of feelings of happiness.

Yeah, that’s a more nuanced take than mine. I sadly doubt this country will actually do anything to improve pay equality however, which I would agree lies at the root of the unpopularity of those jobs.

Americans mostly don’t even want to do the manual labor jobs which have always been available in the US, like residential construction or picking crops. And the oligarchs want to both reduce immigration and re-industrialize? It’s going to be comically unpopular.

I believe administrations like FDR or JFK would’ve tolerated none of this shit. Biden looked weak as hell. I like the guy and I support the democrats but you can’t take the high road indefinitely. You’re right of course. On the other hand this policy of strictly following established laws and precedents is in part what got us into this mess. Democrats could’ve been ruthless but they were meek. And now they have become almost entirely sidelined.

Tariffs are from what I’ve read, according to economists anyway, a lose-lose for both parties. They’re apparently useful only for obvious things like targeted protection of specific vulnerable domestic industries. I cant begin to understand what Trump is even trying to accomplish here. Blanket tariffs seem just self-destructive.

After selecting a frequency (LongFast, MediumSlow, etc.) your node is ready to relay all messages it receives on that frequency. That’s all you need to do with the standard “Client” configuration.

To send and receive messages on your phone, you must also configure Channels. By default you have a primary channel 0, which is public with an empty encryption key. Beyond that you can add up to 7 other channels with symmetric encryption keys. Everyone who you share a channel key with can send and receive messages to this channel.

To deploy an effective “repeater” all you really need to do is put up a node with a good antenna in a high location. You could change the device config from “Client” to “Repeater/Router” but that is a technical detail and probably doesn’t make much of a difference.
