  • Not all Arab nations are united in their beliefs or how government / religion should be linked.

Saudi for example has absolutely no love for Iran. Saudi maybe a muslim Kingdom ran by Sultans. But Iran is a Theocracy ran by the Clergy and is far more hell bent on spreading their form of religion to even the other Muslim nations. Jordan for example is fairly secularly run Kingdom. Iran despises that too.

As for “Sides”. Israel has existing peace treaties and open relations now with several of it’s neighbouring muslim nations. Egypt and Israel have been allied for decades now. Egypt maintains a border wall and blockade of Gaza as well. Jordan and Israel have been fairly peaceful now for decades. And Lebanon frequently looks to Israel military support to quell Hezbollah. Up until Oct 7th, Saudi Arabia was also in negotiations with Israel to normalize relations towards a peace deal.

  • A Neutral UN city not directly ran by Israel or Palestine would likely have settled a lot of tensions. Firstly, Israel couldn’t claim it their capital, which has been a major pain point for decades now. Something Trump further inflamed by moving the US Consulate to Israel in it.

If it were made a place where all religions of all type are allowed in all parts as a historical landmark, maybe there’d be a peaceful place where the three Bbrahamic religions could actually find common ground.

Instead they created a religious McGuffin to fight over.

  • The state of Isreael was officially founded in 1948 but there was never any formal agreement on who controls which parts of the region. The Arabs got driven from their homes and only kept the West Bank and the Gaza Strip but were obviously never happy about that.

This is one place I just want to offer some correction:

There was a formal agreement between UN/West and the Jewish people who occupied the areas that were to become Israel. The British Mandate of Palestine had a sizeable Jewish population already which is why it was also favoured.

It was the Arab nations who completely disagreed and said “NO” to the partition plans. Under which a large portion of the southern half of Israel would become Palestine-Jordan. (Jordan was originally intended to be the Palestinian/muslim portion). The WestBank was accepted as Jordanian in this agreement, as well as Gaza ownership was by Egypt. Israel would originally honour those borders.

Once the British Mandated ended and Israel formed, All the surrounding Arab nations attacked Israel immediately, Calling for all Muslims within the Israel land to leave Israel and fight against it. Israel won this war annexing the entirety of Israel instead.

Israel would not actually take Gaza or the West Bank until later wars. They took West Bank from Jordan; Gaza and the Sinai from Egypt. They would later return Sinai to Egypt as part of Peace treaty, but Egypt did not want Gaza due their own history with the Palestinian’s of the region.

As for the Muslim’s who stayed in Israel after its forming? They’re citizens and have full vote/power/rights as every single other Israeli citizen. Since Israel is a democracy with a fairly secular government (even if it’s currently ran by right wing terrorists).

  • The problem is that there are trolls here and rage baiters.

Having an argument with them is their goal as it opens up discussion for them to contribute nothing and spread more division.

They aren’t trying to have a discussion but use the comment chain to spread shit for others.

The user here never called for opinions to be censored. He called for action against trolls and bots who intentionally try pushing false narratives and division

The fact you immediately jumped to argue about censorship rally evidence your own point for being here and that’s to be a shithead too

  • I deleted my 14 year old account after enough BS on Reddit

Going there with no account but not really on private mode so i got recommendations for regional subs

canada_sub keeps getting pushed. That sub is an alt right neo nazi echo chamber in which the founder and head mod admitted to astroturfing himself with multiple accounts to push hateful topics.

Reddit is intentionally pushing misinformation and hatred for metrics to prop up the ipo

  • Yes. Especially in subs like “Canada” or any post involving Canada in any way

It does not matter what the topic of the thread or conversation is. It can be about how Canada loves puppies. And there will be random 1 or 2 liners from new accounts making political comments heavily pushing specific agendas. Even completely unrelated

Lots of random anti government misinformation and one liners pushing a specific party misinformation and narrative. Our how we’re some 3rd world collapsing country

It is not natural. Same thing occurs also on Reddit.

  • Going to be a toss-up between two of my own cars.

1992 Cavalier convertible Z24 I bought for pennies as my first own car. Had 420,000km on it and grabbed it and it’s papers from some sketch dealer.

Looked good enough on the outside for it’s purpose of having fun. Roof worked. And it had a v6. But it fell apart fast (and a lot due to my own shenanigans). Stearing became so off that I had to turn left to stay straight. The heater died, I live in Canada. The seat’s support broke, so I used an old set of goalie pads propped against the back seat to keep my seat upright. The dashboard lights were blown, so I had a ducked tape flashlight on my headrest to light my dash up. More than ounce, I’d have to pull a fuse and put it back in while cruising on the highway.

Second worse was the off the lot brand new 02 Sunfire my parents forced me to buy to replace the above shitbox due to it’s safety. For fuck sakes I despised this car. Despite how bad the cavalier was, it was FUN and quirky. The Sunfire was just a poorly made shitbox with zero power, and non-stop electrical failures the day I took it off the lot.

  • They do. You can get capsules with properly dosed amounts of THC/CBD etc.

the problem is convincing the medical community in large that it’s a drug that has enough merit to be considered for larger amount of people. Right now, no insurance company will cover it. No Pharmacy stocks THC/CBD medication. And getting “medical” weed requires a lot of jumping through hoops that just aren’t worth it right now considering I can just go to the store and buy it retail anyways

  • Really depends where you are. But there’s a massive oversaturation in some areas. Downtown Stouffville for example has like 15 right now. Stouffville has a population of 40,000. but at the same time, they are also serving other areas who have no shops. For example Markham and Richmond Hill both opted to ban sales of pot in their areas, as well as public consumption (bylaw)

I hate Ford. But I don’t have a problem with anyone who wants a license being able to get one. Cannabis is a luxury product and like all retail/consumer luxury goods, there’s no need to regulate the business for “success”. let the free market sort this out. Yes some of them will fail. That’s free market.

If the shop you frequent is almost always empty, it’s likely because it’s not a well regarded shop or chain. The store I go to (not chain) always has people in it. Even when I show up at 9am for opening, there is always people in it. but it’s also a little further away from any other pot shops and has a good reputation
