Yeah that just sounds like rotation and inclination with extra steps.

It’s funny because I hear “wait’ll” often as the predominant colloquialism to express “wait until.” Must be a regional dialect thing.

10·2 天前Yeah that would be another major escalation in the ongoing constitutional crisis. It’s one more bizarre take from Republicans. They would have lost their minds if Obama went after a member of congress. I will say this for the current administration, though, they’re doing a fantastic job of highlighting improvement opportunities for the Constitution. If the country miraculously pulls itself together enough to pass any kind of amendments at all, but especially one limiting executive powers, they should definitely be named after the person whose kind of behavior it’s trying to limit. I know they’re just numbered. I mean a name like “The Bill of Rights,” which describes the first ten amendments.

26·8 天前This might be the most apt metaphor. The election is both legitimate and illegitimate until we open it up and take a look at it.

Just sharing info for discussion, in case that’s helpful. I think we’re on the same side of this issue.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•it's inconvenient that the number of days in a week is a prime number.
1·10 天前That’s probably the most pragmatic approach.
I also like this one system founded on primes:

20·10 天前I think that’s exactly what this was about. A former political pundit and a former politician set up a private interview to create a sensationalist dialog in a mutual struggle to stay relevant in a world that is leaving them behind.

1·10 天前Okay, that makes sense. Yeah, the overall number of extant digits would increase six-fold. I was trying to express the idea that the number of digits in an operation would decrease.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•it's inconvenient that the number of days in a week is a prime number.
2·11 天前It’s way too long for a week, yeah.
Just to be an insufferable pedant, I would like to point out that a base-60 system would only have one digit from 0 to 59. So technically fewer digits than with our current system to express the same range of values, and as we all know, technically correct is the best kind of correct.

6·14 天前Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the most chaotic debate in Washington! The House chamber is absolutely erupting as AOC and Mike Johnson go toe-to-toe over the latest bill! Johnson has the floor, but AOC is having none of it! She’s firing back with point after point, the chamber roaring like a sold-out arena! Oh, wait! AOC is getting out of her chair. She’s sprinting down the aisle. Here comes Steve Scalise. He’s up and running toward her. Holy cow! Ihan Omar is running across the table tops! She’s leapt into the air. Wow! Flying side kick straight into Scalise. She’s got him down on the floor and is pummeling him mercilessly. Hakeem Jeffries is…uh…lying back in his chair, talking on the phone with his donors. More on that later, but back to the action! Here comes Jim Jordan and he’s got a chair! He’s taking a swing at AOC, and oh my god! It’s Adam Schiff with a gavel! Right to the head! Jordan is out! AOC has reached the podium. She’s got Johnson by the Collar, making him look like a dork made of limp spaghetti noodles, which is his baseline, but perhaps he looks it more now than ever. She’s got him up. Oh my, wow, right through the table! AOC has slammed Mike Johnson right through a table on the house floor! One! Two! Three! He’s out cold! The Sergeant at Arms Raises AOCs hand in the air! H.R. 11,001 passes the House by TKO! The bill to outlaw recreational immigrant hunting is going to the Senate!

162·14 天前Also, “slammed” in the article. I think that word needs to leave journalism. The story is real and important, but the hyperbole is distracting. Seems kinda weird that they think people need to be fed news WWE style: “Wait! What’s this?! It’s Obama with a steel chair!!”

I love pedantry. Just to kick it up a notch, I’d like to point out that people are a part of the natural world, therefore our technology is a part of nature. For example farms don’t seem natural, but I think most people would agree that ants are natural. Some ant colonies engage in farming, and we accept that as a part of nature.
