I think with more adoption, a lot of Linux’s friction against more adoption will be resolved faster and for more people and use cases. Gaming is already at a point where you can practically play more games than you’d ever have the time or energy for.

Plenty of distros are set and forget and there’s no debugging necessary. Bazzite for example. No coding, no CLI.

Steam Deck, with Steam OS is a great example. Bazzite OS, Fedora, etc.

Linux today is not the same as it was years ago. If you think otherwise, a video on YouTube demoing something like Bazzite would be a great demo. Bazzite and other atomic distros like Aurora are fort Knox.

I have a friend who still games on windows 11 and he has headaches playing things too, like freezes, CTDs, audio issues, having to reboot, etc. A lot of that comes with PC gaming and isn’t just a Linux thing.

You can stick to Windows but do it on the basis of what-is, not what-was. Valve and other companies in the Linux community have invested a lot of money and resources getting things to great shape, and they’re continuing to do so

Me too. Fortunately, Linux can play plenty of games. I’ve put hundreds of hours into each of Skyrim, Cyberpunk, Path of Exile and countless other games

I now realize I completely misread your original statement. In light of that, my previous replies don’t make any sense. I actually agree with what you said, I think I just didn’t comprehend it the way it was intended.

I think I’ve read somewhere that strife increases religiosity. I’d say it’s a very defensible stance. I think it’s also defensible that the religiosity sadly causes strife, too. The world would be better off if certain common religious ideas would be abandoned.

“If any god at all” in that context implies the person has doubt in the existence of any god. This again is not a statement of preference. One can be an atheist and happy with their beliefs or unhappy with them.

I just don’t see anywhere that the person said they’d like for things to be that way. They could easily be very unhappy at a disbelief in a god for all we know.

Said another way: just because I don’t believe I’ll ever be a millionaire doesn’t mean I’d prefer never to be one.

EDIT: I want to acknowledge that many people get strength and relief from their faiths and beliefs. And I would like to acknowledge that people’s happiness and comfort in a difficult world is a very good thing.

They didn’t say they’d like for life be without a worship-worthy god. They said they’re not sure why so many people think that there’s a god worth worshipping.

By itself, their comment is really just statement of belief, not a statement of preference.

I looked to more reviews to break see if there was consensus. So far, AMD seems to win comfortably on battery and efficiency for most reviews I’ve seen.

This seems to contradict several other reviews I’ve seen, which show the 7840u beating Intel in all efficiency metrics.

Three sources where efficiency and better battery life are reported for AMD across the board: Notebookcheck, Just Josh (most comprehensive comparisons IMO), and techradar.

Kind of interesting.

AFAIK, we have nothing from Madison but her word. It seems little, if anything, was written down. The best we can hope for is a denial or affirmative from anyone else at LMG about her testimony. Even then, it’s all “he said, she said”, unless there is actual corroboration or evidence.

That said, I think what we can corroborate from her is probably the managerial issues and workflow problems. That’s what I’m most confident in.

For all the rest of her testimony, the sexual harasshment and toxicity she endured, I think it’s more likely than not that she is sincere. Women in my life have endured similar treatment elsewhere, under the radar, and they often do not report it, sadly, and I don’t blame them. Anyone can lie about anything, so we have to be careful, and just accept that we may never know factually what the real story is on some of the issues.

If more employees were to speak out or some other evidence came to light, we’d have far more confidence one way or another. Maybe there will be a lawsuit between Madison and LMG and more evidence can come from that. We’ll see
