I like the idea of getting an adult cat - a bit bigger, a bit wiser, and a bit warmer to the idea of having a bed and a human to call their own.

Man I’d love to be able to do that and give cats a good run-in for their twilight years but I don’t think I could - partly because one of the household is allergic to cats; but mainly I don’t think I could deal with the repeated emotional devastation of having to let them go at a much higher rate than a “normal” pet owner.

I’ve got one and it’s cool… but that’s about it.

It’s starting to chug now with modern apps (or legacy apps with new updates), the touchscreen is becoming increasingly unresponsive, that battery health is starting to go off a cliff… but all those factors can be levelled at any two or three year old phone.

The hinge is the problem. My understanding is that Samsung has made a better design for the SGF 5 and 6, but i’m already on my second phone after the hinge caused the phone screen to bleed out from the centre, and I’m getting the crackle of doom from the hinge starting to sound already.

If you’re desperate for a flip phone, then I’d advise you stay clear of the SGF3 and consider the Oppo Find N2 or the Nubia Flip.

To take it to a logical extreme, it frustrates me when a post that considers both (or more) views and is a well thought out post, is met with a single world reply - as if it’s some sort of “gotcha” or the fact that a single ambiguity in a largely solid argument somehow usurps the entire point.

It’s just a shame the (presumably US-based) healthcare system is a clusterfuck, because that bit of expensive paper with a diagnosis on it would likely open up a whole host of avenues for exploration of the condition.

I can only provide anecdotal experience, but my old girl found her dream house. Old mining cottage type terraced house, immaculate renovation inside, great hillside views, nice enough place overall…

I mean in fairness it will probably end up being both. It would appear she’s danced along the line of being incendiary-but-not-enough-to-get-charged up to now, but I can’t see it being long until she talks enough shit that she ends up with a fine - which is a bit pointless in her position as it’s probably lost in the noise of whatever riches she sits on.

As for why not her, I’d argue that - based admittedly on some pretty big assumptions - what experience has she had of being marginalised in recent times? How have the struggles for trans rights recognition negatively (or positively) affected her? What has she done to constructively make life better for the LGBTQIA+ communities which may have averted the need for a hate crime law?

My assumption is that the answer will largely be fuck all, where there are people - a set that I couldn’t possibly quantify - who are actively struggling with getting to grips with their own identity, or have lived experiences of marginalisation or ill-treatment that can actually speak on the issue of how the hate crime law is a net positive or net negative for those communities.

Those are the people I feel are the ones who are best placed to make for a constructive discussion on the matter, not someone who’s opinion is somehow disproportionately amplified because of her bank balance and status. That’s the argument I’m trying (and probably failing to do so articulately enough) to make - not just for Rowling, but for Musk and Rogan too seeing as they were named in the initial article.

I have yeah, it’s a fine line where to draw the line though. That can equally be used to silence people whose views are entirely sensible but inconvenient to whoever is writing the rules.
