“Original”… except at least the video in this article doesn’t have vertical video syndrome where the sides are cropped out. The quality is definitely lacking though.

Damn, that is a sweet Earth.
To be clear, even if you have a door that opens outward, the doors first open inwards before rotating to go back out. That way pressure will always keep the door from opening when at a high altitude.
Veritasium did a video on it: https://odysee.com/@veritasium:f/what-everyone-gets-wrong-about-planes:e
While Trump is definitely exaggerating what’s happening there, I think you’re downplaying it a bit too much.
This video is: a) more than a decade old,
There were multiple videos, but the concerning part here is it looks like even in recent rallies Julius Malema has continued with this chant: https://web.archive.org/web/20250502020122/https://www.nytimes.com/2023/08/02/world/africa/south-africa-kill-boer-song.html
It is ridiculous that there were no dates/locations for anything in these clips given what Trump is trying to claim here.
b) from a rally of a minority opposition party i.e. not the political party of the people Trump was meeting,
Yes, but it’s worth pointing out that the EFF is still one of the more popular parties. The 3rd or 4th largest party from what I can tell based on this list (and from what other articles have mentioned). https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_political_parties_in_South_Africa
It is good to hear that someone like him is increasingly being sidelined.
Thanks for pointing out the court case. After a little digging it looks like the court has ruled on this more than once. Back in 2011 they found him guilty of hate speech for the chant: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-safrica-malema/south-africa-court-finds-malema-guilty-of-hate-speech-idUSTRE78B2DD20110912/
And in 2022 the courts ruled that the chant should not be taken literally.
That chant when coupled with statements to his supporters such as “never be afraid to kill” is still alarming.
It reeks of “it was just a joke, bro” energy and what fascists try to do when they are testing the waters.
Please explain.
Edit: I see your edit… But I must still be misreading the conversation.
Even after double checking the username, you were the one that said, “Such as?”
Yes and you were the one asking the questions about things that are explained in the article so I responded with some context.
This question really shouldn’t be that hard to answer. Here’s the video that was shown at the Whitehouse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLDl3mblm-c
Video of the full meeting (I set the link to skip ahead to the part where the TV is brought in) if you want to see President Cyril Ramaphosa’s reaction to it: https://odysee.com/@NTD:2/live-trump-holds-bilateral-meeting-2:5?t=1313
Besides the video of the crosses along the road, there are video clips of the Economic Freedom Fighter’s leader, Julius Malema calling for a bloody revolution as well as chanting with large crowds to “kill the Boer” (white man/farmer).
There are no timestamps/locations for any of the video clips, but it looks like this guy founded the Economic Freedom Fighters back in 2013.
Edit: typo
I know that this is an ongoing thing between these 2 countries, but it always makes me nervous when I remember that they both have a nuclear arsenal.
The title is missing a key point here:
US Supreme Court let’s Trump’s transgender military ban take effect | while appeals continue.
This isn’t a final decision if you took it that way.
This wasn’t touched on in the video, but another bad side to making sub minimum wage is when the restaurant has the servers do “side work” at the end of the night before they can go home.
Basically it’s “Free labor” for the restaurant, because you’re still going to get a 0$-$2 paycheck at the end of the pay period.
This work is done after all your tables have gone, and typically involves things like pulling up the seat cushions and cleaning underneath, rolling/folding up napkins, filling up salt/pepper shakers, collecting all of the condiments off the tables, etc.
One restaurant in particular even had us doing some kitchen prep work (in addition to the side work listed above) like dumping whatever was left in the ketchup bottles into a larger container for sauces, stripping herbs off their stems, etc.
Usually this took about 20-30 min, but you couldn’t go until it was done and someone had to sign off on it, or else they would pick up the slack if someone else didn’t do everything.
Except that Hunter Biden wasn’t convicted/pardoned for anything related to this.
Jurors found Hunter Biden guilty of lying to a federally licensed gun dealer, making a false claim on the application by saying he was not a drug user and illegally having the gun for 11 days.
It sounds like the tech support agent was trying to get him to do just that on his phone… But I haven’t used Waymo before, so I’m not certain about that.
This isn’t a trolley problem. Killing CEOs is not going to save any more lives or “fix the system” in any way.
There’s no guarantee that the new CEO will be better or worse, and if they feel threatened enough they’ll just hire security.
That’s not what I’m saying or implying in any way.
No… A closer comparison shows that she would be like Sam Bankman-Fried with a 25 year sentence and ordered to repay $11 billion. Although she probably would end up on a cover of Forbes.
Can you expand on this?
Either you replied to the wrong comment, or you’re clearly thinking of some context that I’m not, or it’s related to some saying that I’m not familiar with.
I think it’s a valid question. I wouldn’t say that the only reason for abolishing the death penalty is because we might make a mistake… that definitely factors into it, but there’s more to it.
Ask yourself what purpose does it serve to put someone to death? They’re already in jail/prison and no longer a threat to society. Deterrence? Is the death penalty any more of a deterrence than a life sentence?
The only purpose I can think of for the death penalty is that it’s for “Revenge”. It doesn’t actually fix anything in of itself. It doesn’t resolve disputes, it doesn’t really solve anything.
The amount of people in here pushing for the death penalty when it’s used on people they dislike is sickening…
This is a penalty that needs to be abolished, not expanded or made exceptions for.
Nah, Cygnus beat you by about 14 min.
(On a serious note, had you already heard about someone else being convicted under the new security law? It also sounds like they’re talking about how the sentence was increased from 2 years to 7-10 years.)
If you’re in California, flying the California flag is probably the best option here.
