  • I think I’m at a point where I don’t care what appeals to kids. I shouldn’t have to miss out on stuff I like cause a kid “could” be interested in a flavor I also like.

“But kids like fruity flavors!” OK? and what do I care? I’ve never seen anything marketing ecigs towards children.

That’s on the kid’s parents. not me. I’m a legal adult and I showed my ID and bought my stuff. Parents need to be present if they don’t want their kids hooked on stuff. And keep their kids outta adult spaces.

I don’t see the need to make it more complicated than that.

  • I’ve done all except leaving discord, but that’s because I’m the owner of some servers. and I don’t want to abandon friends.

that and I’m not entirely sure how matrix actually works. I am a newb with a fairly smooth brain.

but I only use fediverse now. lemmy, mastodon and I’ve swapped to peertube for my TV and newpipe for my mobile app.

I am a new user and I appreciate the breakdown of each one. I am the theoretical “new user” you’re talking about. And I like how it’s set up. So there you go. you have one new user who finds it useful.

I think it’s nice to learn stuff. I’m not so simple minded that more choices is going to “scare me away”. this isn’t life or death, it’s just an OS.

  • I am very new to linux. this is actually great for me because of how detailed the results are. it doesn’t just say “this one.”

it gives pros and cons based on the things you want to do with your install. which is very nice when this is all new and you’re not sure what they all are really for.

it means I can learn a little about every distro, not just the ones that might be right for my needs at the time, but maybe later if I want to use a different one for something else.

more distros means more for me to shop around for. it’s nice to have more options, not less.

  • this is a weird instance, to be sure. I thought it was satire, but there’s a lot of people who seem to lack the ability to think critically about transportation in general.

your comment isn’t even irrational at all. but you’re being downvoted because you don’t ascribe to the theory that the world should be all butterflies and rainbows and everyone can just walk everywhere or take public transport.

public transportation can be great. but it can be so bad it’s basically unusable.

all stuff I read in here sounds like a bunch of kids preparing for debate team about whether cars are “good” or “evil”
