This actually is relevant, but wasn’t part of your initial statement. If you don’t like people using the term to refer to you then people should absolutely make an effort to not use that term when referencing you.

Saying there’s some mental gymnastics on my part is a bit of stretch, it’s how the word is defined in the dictionary. All I needed was to read. There’s no disrespect here, if you don’t like it then using the term to refer to you would be disrespectful, but I haven’t done so.

I don’t see the issue with using the term “guys” in the plural when referring to a group regardless of sex. That would align with the definition of the word. I’m pretty sure that’s how they meant it.

As long as both remain free and open source I’ll allow it.

Was actually unaware of SmartTube. Looks like it may cover that part for me :). I had also never heard of LineageOS, I’ll take a look there too. I have a Pi4 laying about I was going to use.

It’s probably that lemmy is a much smaller community coupled with lemmy users likely being more tech literate, in general, than redditors. Not that people on lemmy don’t have questions but that they’re more self reliant. At least in my own case I often will spend hours digging for answers before I’d post asking.

This is it for me. In particular as my hobbies shifted to self hosting, linux, and my own privacy, I find that lemmy is an incredible source of info and insight. But I’m not really here to meet or follow individuals as much as I am things that interest me.

Ohhh yes. If I wasn’t down for hiccups I would have given up with nginx haha. Figuring out how to make the damn admin place for pihole not require /admin took me waaay longer than I’d like to admit haha. At any rate though. Learning is half the fun :)

As for my network. I have a decent router, though I can’t remember the model at the moment. I’m using a 1gig switch at the moment to split everything through my network. I’m planning to get that upgraded to a 10g next.

It can be. I’m actually headed there in 4 days. Tickets this time around were definitely higher than usual but I managed to get them for $940 ish. Not ideal since the whole family is going and my bank account is hurting. Also not ideal was having to choose a 3am flight with a trash layover in dfw… but fingers crossed cheap shopping while were there makes up for it.
