I used wanderer pretty much the entire game, best crest.

She’s actually entirely predictable if you just pay attention to her attack cues. I beat her on the first try if memory serves. As Hornet said in HollowKnight, “GITGUD!”

Old post is old

There’s definitely middle ground to be found, and decency to exercise.

Lefty here. I have a queer wife who identifies as non-binary but still identifies as my wife, as well as plenty of trans and queer people in my social circles, and I don’t see the need to word police myself over completely innocent phrases. I don’t think you’re harming anyone by just saying women, when the men or nonbinary people who can get pregnant constitute like a tenth of a percentage of the population.
I go out of my way to make sure the not-straight people in my life feel safe and comfortable around me, but there’s a certain level of pearl clutching over language that I don’t feel the need to engage with. You aren’t being hateful, you’re treating people like human beings, and you get to decide for yourself how you speak.

I’m into other forms of retro electronics and I must warn you. It sounds like you’re veering into hobby territory.
You found this thing. It might be neat. But let’s say you pick it up and find that the batter doesn’t hold a charge very long. Do you buy another one, or do you invest in new tools for tiny electronics, maybe some jewelers style magnification and lighting, and invest time into learning how to service this device, building skills and knowledge from the experience.
To me this sounds great, assuming you can afford a hobby, or find ways to make the hobby affordable. What other interesting directions could the new skills and tools take you in?
And that my friend is the primary caveat to Linux. More work. For the day to day user browsing the web, checking email, etc, it typically just works.
Certain use cases will require a lot more tinkering, and thus more work. If you have patience, and enjoy the work, enjoy the learning, it’s not a bad thing.
If you have an AMD GPU, corectrl is a graphical application for controlling your GPU and CPU, works great, but make sure you know what you’re doing.
ckb-next is a reverse engineered solution for controlling RGB on Corsair peripherals. I’m not certain what other functionality it may have but it’s worth checking out.
It looks like there are a couple of apps in development for the streamdeck, python-elgato-streamdeck and streamcontroller. Both of these may require some education to utilize.
I’m not sure which Vortex you’re referring to, is it the mod manager? If so, you’ll likely need to dig up some other means of using mods.
Wine and proton used through steam have done a phenomenal job of making gaming accessible on Linux. Unfortunately, making other windows software work as if it were native is very touch and go with wine.
When anyone switches to Linux they really have to think about all of the caveats and potential deal breakers that may crop up. A dedicated Linux user will go out of their way to acquire hardware that they know to be directly supported by either the kernel itself or another reverse engineered kernel module. For instance, I use Razer peripherals, because openrazer and polychromatic do an incredible job of making them work without any loss of functionality.
I hope some of this is helpful

Don’t be in debt.

Did you disable secure boot?

They hated him, because he spoke the truth

It’s a particularly fitting line from the movie Idiocracy.

Ohhhhhh shit you’re right. I still stand by my statement lol. If you don’t own Stardew you should.
Hollow knight is another one like that. Absolute must play.

Definitely Stardew. Everyone should have Stardew.

I think it’s pretty normal for people to want their high end thing to look high end, or whatever high end looks like to them. My PC case is basically a black rectangle with a single pane of glass on one side. It has some rainbow vomit lighting inside that isn’t all customizable with Linux, but my razer mouse mat, mouse, and keyboard all glow a lovely purple, just one static color. My desk, peripherals and case all match in black, so really any color I choose to run with makes for an easy vibe change.
I think maybe a half a dozen people have even seen my pc setup, and I don’t really take visitors back there, so whatever cool looks my setup has are just for me, and I enjoy it.
That said, there is a such thing as it being too busy, too gaudy, etc, so I totally get what you’re saying. My shit is lit up but I still feel like it’s fairly subdued.

So, I used to play valorant and pubg when I was still a windows user. It was around the time of my switch to Linux that I learned about intrusive kernel level anti cheat.
Honestly, I don’t miss them, and refuse to play a game that compromises the safety and security of my operating system, just as much as I refuse to use an operating system that even allows kernel level access to something as trivial as a game.
My latest run in with this issue was the Marathon pre-alpha. I was granted access only to find that Bungie was Linux hostile, and after making a few speeches about it in the discord I uninstalled it and left.
I’m fine with this scenario. If I want competitive multiplayer I have CS2, Apex legends, and others. If games refuse to support Linux, fuck em.
Just another lens to view this through. There’s a certain rebellious spirit that can come along with embracing FOSS, and that should be part of the appeal.

A long time ago, republicans needed an easy way to get voters to vote against their own interests and instead vote in the interest of the corporate overclass. Abortion. It’s genius. Make the preachers ultra wealthy by getting them to preach about something the Bible never seemed concerned about. Abortion. They’re murdering babies, you just have to get out and vote.
Eventually that strategy brought diminishing returns. They overturned Roe and the issue doesn’t have the same bite that it once had. They needed a new plan. Wait, I’ve got it. Trans people existing. Trans people bad, and they’re trying to assimilate your children by existing. They’re trans animals now, pooping in litter boxes at school. How long until you have to refer to your children by neopronouns under the threat of incarceration?
Seriously. This is how trump won the election. This issue is the issue they chose and it works. I hear it from my rightoid coworkers all the time. The GOP creates boogeymen to get idiots to the polls and it works, and the democrats have nothing to counter it.
I very much agree. I think that this aligns with the spirit of FOSS. As the neofetch decays on the forest floor, the fastfetch rises in its place to fill its role in the ecosystem. This how our ecosystem stays fresh and moves forward.
