  • Money wise I once ran a speed lab and lost a couple grand on it after my associate chikened out because his half brother got whacked. But it was fun.

Overall. I studied for an acounting tecnician in my teenage years. Thats what i regret the most in my life. No human being should go through that. One of the reasons i dont have a college degree is tgat after going through that i sworeupon my soul and upon the mass that i would never again go through anything similar.

  • Modesty is a cultural framework. If our current society had evolved fron the cultural norms of the yanommame what we consider an aceptable amount of clothes to wear would be much less. In the culture of cartoon bears it is very unusual to wear pants. In the culture of these girls wearing an abaya or similar clothing is the aceptable standard.

Imagine you get transported to an alterative reality were the french goverment banned pants as to make you conform to cartoon bear culture. You would likley be uncomfrtable.

  • Taras bulba. the american version focuses way too much on the love story. The sets are awfull. Taras does not even get burned at the stake.

The russian verssion is better. But it still misses the point. It plays it straigth while the book is suposed to be satire. They kill his wife at the begining using it as a justification for the war, when she should die at the end as a consequence of taras being an ass.

The point of the book is to show that the myths of the russian frontiersman are bullshit, because if they really acted like taras does they would all get whiped out.

Gogol is still an arch reactionary and you can tell he geuinley beleves some of the things he is moking. So its suposed to have a silly ironic self mocking sligthly nhilist tone. Remininicent of a lot of stuff in the internet. But both adaptations play it straigth and pay too much atention to the polish girl.

  • Of course. Humans are not clones. As long as they are not there is some variance due to physiological inherited factors.

That being said a lot of intelligence can be trained.

And a lot of it is culturally loaded. Im sure the average paleolithic hunter gatherer was smarter than me because they have to constantly solve complex problems. While people today rely on civilization to take on the load.

We dont actually do t need to be that intelligent know a days. And actually very few people relly care about it. For example there is some disiese going around that has about 7% chance of leaving you mentally handicapped. And you can catch it reapeatedly. No one really cares. Because they never came to a situation were their inherent intelligence was the bottleneck to solve a problem. Once eventually everyone loses 10or 20% of their intelligence they will still be fine.

So most of these asholes going woe is me im so samart. 1-Are not really that smart. 2-inherent phisiological limitations to cognitive avility have never been an actual limitation in their lives.

The iq is bullshit in the sense the the tests are bullshit. Only the part testing working memory relates to those innate charachteristics.
