  • but it’s a valid analogy

Almost; the added context that unfortunately breaks it is that this would have to be on the eve of a war with a comparative superpower that is leagues superior to America and having to hope that you aren’t arming subversive forces who’ll turn on you in this one sided war; then there’s also that this superpower would have crafted a rival political group that both it and the superpower accept as the legitimate government (so like if Democrats said the election was rigged and they were the real winners, and the superpower treated it as fact). Trump isn’t stupid enough to do that; basically no one is; for example this national police force would also need to number high enough to be of any value in war, and this many people easily allows for subversive forces.

Heck, in the real world you have leftist youtubers infiltrating these groups all the time.

The idea is too crazy for the analogy to be valid; you’d have to dumb everything way too down for it to work.

Edit: actually for that matter, there’s no one in America that seriously wants to actually militarily overthrow Trump, which is the ludicrous claims about Maduro.

I remember having an argument about the little mermaid movie years ago; the guy was complaining that a black lady was cast and I had to ask: “what do you care? You’re not gonna watch it”; he looked stunned for a second and then said “yeah but still…”, to which I had to reiterate “WHAT DO YOU CARE? YOU’RE NOT GONNA WATCH IT!”

Like why are grown men complaining about it at all?! We’re not the target demographic!

  • I’m currently working in the Middle East and speaking for myself, I’m less worried about dying brutally to a bombing campaign by China than I am by my own government, so that certainly plays a role.

I think if the government put some effort towards PR by making some superficial gestures such as not invading other countries or overthrowing their governments it would certainly help improve our image abroad and I could stop pretending I’m British.

What we really need is to convince the global South that NOT being bombed by China is actually an evil orientalist plot to subvert our kindly brutality.

It’s getting very exhausting telling the locals “Oy yoo lot ain’t neva seen ‘ow ‘orrible dem Choinese ca’ be! Would yoo be preferrin’ youse country, yeah? Would youse be preferrin’ yoo be in one a dem ‘orrifying debt traps, or would youse be preferrin’, yeah? A noice Gaaza remodelin’, yeah? Oi think tha choice is an easy one, yeah? Dem Choinese don’ seem so noice now, do they?”

Speaking like a Brit makes my mouth hurt; no wonder they’re so miserable.

It’s funny to imagine our descendants in whatever America becomes defending the empire by saying it wasn’t America’s fault it collapsed, it was Israel’s; hopefully though one of the things they admit is it’s also because of culture war idiocy and other arbitrary, fabricated social divisions; EDIT: Also the empire’s insistence on capitalism and wasting the talents contained in around 350 million people; China capitalizing (haaaaa, see what I did there?) on their population with excellent access to really good education and health services has turned their one billion people into its most powerful asset, meanwhile in America humans are also an asset, but in the form of slavery (wage slavery and actual slavery).

  • Now admittedly I’m just a gamer, not a GamerTM, but I personally don’t have any interest in the different designs and such; do they look cool sometimes? Sure, but I spend very little time looking at my PC so it’s entertaining for the first two hours, and then it’s just a chassis. Also I really don’t like those annoying LED lights and have to switch them off; I sleep in the same room as my PC and I don’t want the lights on at night (I never switch off my PC cause like seriously, who does that?)

Would it serve a streamer more than it would the average person however? Most likely; fans will enjoy glancing at it from time to time, and it’ll help add some interest to the average person just flicking through different gamer streams.
