I think the whole conversation is muddied because we tend to only identify neurodivergent people after they have been traumatized, not always but people tend to only seek help and diagnosis after they have had major troubles. Literally part of the DSM criteria for diagnosis is that the neurodivergence has to give the person issues when they try to function in society.

It’s a catch-22 when you say the world is built for neurotypical people because neurodivergence is partially defined as someone for whom the world isn’t built for.

I think it’s also that we only define someone as neurodivergent if they’ve been traumatized otherwise you’re just a spicy normal person.

“Neurodivergence” and mental disorders are inherently only defined when they make it difficult to be in society.

The whole point of AI hate anyway is that there is physically no world in which this happens. I’ve come to realize that these crazed anti-ai people are just a product of history repeating itself. They would be the same leftists who were “anti-gmo”. When you dig into it you understand that they’re against Monsanto, which is cool and good, but the whole thing is so conflated in their heads that you can’t discuss the merits of GMOs whatsoever even though they’re purportedly progressive.

It’s a pattern, their heads in the right place for the most part. But the logic is just going a little haywire as they buy into hysteria. It’ll take a few years probably as the generations cycle.

I have things I can/need to do every single day of the week. I have to decide if what you’re inviting me to is more important than the chores, shopping, exercise, and hobbies I’m planning on.
