Thanks, me too! But it’s been awhile since I’ve had a Representative in the House that I was happy with. House districts are too big for their stated purpose OR5 goes from Portland suburbs to Bend

Dems and Reps are both corporatists (though you could argue Reps are moving towards some neo-feudalism) neither is willing to severely curtail the big money interests. I think you’re right that people are genuinely hurting and anxious. People are also probably sexist and racist. Harris had a hell of a lot of disadvantages to overcome in the president’s race and she didn’t.
Mostly though, reality doesn’t matter anymore for probably a supermajority because people are so checked out. Just vibes - and the vibes are bad
Hey, that’s my district. Nice to make the news!
100% I think a lot of people don’t realize that prisons are modern slavery. Need more slave labor? Send protesters to the gulag.
72 so far, Harris with 67. Pretty low turnout given the stakes
I’m revising my estimation of the electorate a lot tonight
“that ‘I voted’ sticker is sexy…” Normalize fetishizing political involvement!
Whether he wants them to or not
Locally, yes. Solar (and wind) energy isn’t uniform in timing or location, so when there’s too much of it relative to consumption, there needs to be a profitable way to use it rather than just dumping it into resistive heating or letting the panels wear out faster at open circuit. Desalination is a pretty good idea since places with high solar resources also tend to be poorer in water resources. The challenge is the capital costs of desalination plants and competition with existing water sources - water rights are a giant ratfuck by themselves. I think it’ll make sense to build desalination plants that can absorb excess energy generation, but if there’s even political will for it, they’ll take a lot of time to build up
Throwing interested people into simple encounters is 100% the best way to explain what DnD is; you can see it clicking in his imagination!
Could be Mossad, too! Or wind, I guess; Helicopters are death traps
I generally try not to bring it up, but I know folks that’ve resumed eating meat and we’re welcomed back with high-fives. This argues against the “preachy” argument in this thread. And people don’t get criticized the same way over eating unnutritious fast food all the time. My view is that some people feel criticized by other folks’ different life choices. When Alice to be in an out group, Betty is confronted with their own life choices.
Zach reino is a goddamn genius. This was my favorite but from that karaoke night episode. Pretty on-point animation!
Home Depot rents out gas-less mig welders surprisingly cheap. You could spend a fun 3-4 hours noodling around trying simple welding of angle iron pieces!
Fireflies. I could sit on a porch watching fireflies every night of my life
I have small kids whose sleep schedule is delicate and last change took us a week to recover from. It’s a needless, counterproductive, inherited tradition. I didn’t mind the change when it was just me, but it’s a lot of needless stress now. Also apparently, it causes accidents
Doesn’t cost him anything so why not. Plus gives message to his mob that they have free rein
