Nothing within the known universe moves faster then light, but the universe itself expands faster then light travels within it.

Videos@lemmy.world•The Liverpool man who drove his car into 100 people will be able to drive again. The judge ruled that he can apply for a driver's license after prison
19·6 months agoHe was given 21.5 years in prison, it’s not gonna matter much if he can apply for a license after getting out from that. Looking at him, I’d say he’s around 45-55, so 21.5 means he’ll be aged to the point of more likely to fail the exam then pass it.

World News@lemmy.world•For most of the world, the US is now a malign actorEnglish
27·7 months agoThe US is a malign actor for the US as well. Our government has become a danger to our own citizens.
The same thing a cat would do. Look at them both, give a slow blink, then stand up and walk away to go do my own thing.

And yet there is a such a surplus of milk that the US gov has bought the extra in order to keep cheese prices sustainable for the high number of dairy farmers, then turned the milk into a national stockpile of cheese and then sell it cheaply to help find the entire racket, for the last few decades.

4·11 months agoThat’s a pretty fast Sainthood, if I remember correctly. Didn’t it used to take decades after death for that to happen?

124·11 months agoI thought he slapped a man for making a joke? I can see why many folks would see little difference, I mean violence is violence, but if we’re talking degrees Id rather get doses of slap then punch. Still unacceptable in the situation, however, and I believe what ever issue Will had that night skills have been handled in private.
All that being said, the man has aged and people move on.

politics @lemmy.world•An "unimaginable sum:" Trump's Big Beautiful Bill would appropriate $200 billion to ICE
283·1 year agoThe issue some of us take with that is no, we did not all decide we needed more racism and hate. In fact, more and more evidence is being found that shows the entire thing was rigged, and the true majority decision was not acknowledged by the folks who had mostly been behind the scenes before.

831·1 year agoYeah, not surprised at the Orange Blunder finding a way to bring back slavery. Oh his cronies will think up a different name for it, but soon these poor people will be segregated and counted as ⅗ of a person for purposes of population counting when drawing up political districts.
At this rate we are going to end up with Civil War 2 Electric Boogaloo before Christmas…
Edit: Correction of fractions, the historical amount was ⅗, not ⅕.

5·1 year agoI already communicate without speech, I’m doing it right now to someone I’ve never met and don’t know the identity of, who is receiving only the thoughts I wish to share. Why would I go beyond that?
Besides, I can also share thoughts with those I do know without speech. I text my wife when I don’t want the kids to hear our joke, I can even include pictures to get the message across if I don’t have the words.
I always was explicit about this. When people would ask me if I could keep a secret, my response was “Of course, I’ll forget what it is within 2 days anyway.”
Gooooood Morning Night City!
For that price I can get 3-4 Ender-3s and the same number of Raspberry Pi and make my own smart printers .

Having worked stock in a grocery store, this is part of it. After asking alot of different people at different levels, the consensus is that shelf space is also paid for by many brands, and what space goes to who is decided way above the store level. So once in a while the stockers get paperwork that moves a ton of stuff around, and no one who works in that location has the authority to say no. Sure, sometimes a manager will do that anyway, but they always have a reason, and it’s usually something about the reality of the store configuration, like not putting too many cold items near warm areas, to keep humidity down and reduce spoil.
