  • overview of the like 30ish military bases the US had in Greenland.

Had, during and right after WW2. The Guardian article you linked quotes a 1952 news report:

At least four major United States air force bases will be built in Greenland in addition to the three already operating there, Danish government sources announced to-day.

The new bases will be hundreds of miles closer to Moscow and the western rim of the Soviet Union than the existing base at Thule. They will lie right across the path which Soviet bombers may be expected to follow in any mission against the chief industrial areas in the eastern United States and around the Great Lakes.

some bases were toxic and needed cleaning up (…) Denmark had announced that it would contribute 180 million kroner ($29 million U.S.) over six years to begin cleaning up some of the abandoned military bases on Greenland, though experts warned that the amount was unlikely to be enough to finish the job.

    Why am I not surprised.

  • Of course I believe in justice.

I’ll say it again: this is not the only way to fight back. But it’s how politicians operate, and this one’s now doing what is in their power. Something else might be in someone else’s power to do.

IDK where that ICE murderer now is, but they could have detained him right there and prosecute him to the full extent of the law. Nothing Trump can do about it (short of starting a war against a state). But you’d probably say they’re “still dreaming of a thing named justice”.

Further, a professor sued his university who fired him over some Charlie Kirk comment on social media. He won, and the university that decided to obey MAGA is now $500k poorer. But you’d probably have told that person that they’re “still dreaming of a thing named justice”.

I understand the anger and frustration, but it doesn’t have to lead to pessimistic fatalism.

  • Lunduke is mentioned 10s into the video and Linux Sucks is his series of videos.

… “The end of Linux has already happened”, and he’s serious about it, complaining about pretty much everything.

He’s definitely anti-woke in all its colorful facets, self-confesssed “conservative” and hides behind constant “I’m not political” statements to continue pushing clearly political opinion.

He is the Alex Jones of the Linux community.

All this becomes very clear in the first 10 min of the video.

  • This is what he got fired for btw:

“Charlie Kirk says gun deaths are ‘unfortunately’ worth it to keep 2nd Amendment,” read the headline of an article Michael shared. He did not add any additional comment on it.

And this is how he got back:

a settlement agreement between Michael and the university, showing the school will dish out $500,000 and reimburse “therapeutic counseling services.”

“APSU agrees to issue a statement acknowledging regret for not following the tenure termination process in connection with the Dispute,” the settlement reportedly reads. “The statement will be distributed via email through APSU’s reasonable communication channels to faculty, staff, and students.”

And yes, he’s working there again since December. BTW it’s $500,000, not 50,000.

Only because he fought back, I presume. Fight back, on all levels!
