I think OP is saying that this is more common among people with ADHD, than those without.

The part that makes it more adhd like i think has do with the experience and feelings that comes with this. A feeling of eptyness and the dopamin hunger the brain has so when it finally finds something that makes it feel something the brain just makes you overdo it into oblivion untill it doesn’t work anymore and you again feel empty. Music can absolutely make everyone smile and feel happy but with ADHD it’s harder to find this and when it does it cannot manage it.

There’s a lot of correlation between highly intelligent people and executive dysfunction. One of the more common symptoms of ADHD in young people, is their voracious appetite for knowledge, especially regarding things that spark their interest. Like learning everything there is to know about Yo-yos. Or knitting. Or why that particular song tickles their brain.

I literally ruin music for myself by doing this. I go through long stretches of time in which I don’t enjoy listening to music at all because I’ve overplayed the music I’ve enjoyed to death and nothing else will hit the spot.

I’m the opposite. I can’t stand listening to the same song twice in a day, and twice a week is pushing it.

This is why my playlist is many hundreds of songs. Takes a few weeks to hear them all on the commute.

I do this with bands. I will find something new and amazing and listen to nothing else 20 hours a day, 7 days a week for a month or so.

Then it’s time to move on to something else and likely never look back.

I learned from this consequence at a young age and started rationing my favorite (and most good) music, keeping it good forever

I remember when my neighbours used to play the same song on blast for several days in a row. Found it on youtube and blasted it back at them 😂 didn’t hear it play again

Same but I’m still listening 2000 plays later, as lesser songs wither up and fall off the playlist.
