Finally, because someone can acknowledge what another nation has done and is doing doesn’t make them “far left.” Western people have been prodded so far right, so slowly that the collective memory of what US “right” and “left” is*, the common purview is anything left of Reagan is “far left.”
China is quite possibly less authoritarian than Western governments. All states have and use authority. Better it’s used for the citizens’ housing, health, food, transportation needs than Elon and Bezos.
