They didn’t denounce him or anything, and they gave a weak defense of “eh we sponsor all sorts of things”. But they don’t seem to have done anything to increase or strongly defend their (very indirect) support of DHH.
Not clear. They still list Hyprland on their most recent donation blog update (with an annual sum rather than monthly) and they still have Rails World listed as well.
None of that is something that I would call “doubling down”, which to me means escalation of their actions. I feel like they kinda put their heads down and ignored the problem mostly.
But in any case I don’t know if that means they’re still paying him today or whether that’s carryover from previous payments or a contract they didn’t want to break for whatever reason.
It’s also not clear to me whether “Rails World” is a one-man show or whether DHH just happens to be the founder. Is the money funneled right to him, does he benefit financially? I have no idea.
Well, yikes. I didn’t know this about Framework and this is disappointing to me. I guess I can just save my cash before awaiting the next sponsorship report, though the latest one being from March this year isn’t encouraging :/ but man do I really love their ethos on open, repairable, and upgradable hardware…
How did they “double down”?

i don’t quite remember the drama, but aren’t they still paying him?

Same. I’d be a lot happier if they had said “sorry, we didn’t know, we’re pulling our sponsorship/attendance for projects where DHH is involved.”
