Gonna get some hate here: it was always cringe, and we just have nostalgia for when our favorite lineups were on (usually the cocaine years). SCTV was way better.
3-D House of Beef was Peak SCTV.
And everybody will tell you that SNL has sucked since about 2 years after it started.
But you’re right about the nostalgia bit.

Canadian SNL. The cast was legendary though. John Candy, Catherine O’Hara, Rick Moranis, Eugine Levy, Harold Ramis. Just to name a few.
