I have 11 cats. Plus three more in my custody. If they worked together they could take down a cow. This is important because cows outnumber people on my block.
But I also want more cat friendly cat food because I too understand what cats want in cat food. I made this 10 years ago:
Vole, mole, mouse, cotton rat are the favorites here.
I did find a rabbit skeleton underneath my house. Is the only rabbit I’ve ever seen of my property. But I don’t know if it was there before we moved in or not. And I don’t know how my cats would have gotten underneath the house to put it there. So I can’t confirm that as a confirmed kill.
Was the skeleton disarticulated? If not then the rabbit most likely wasn’t killed by predetors or scavenged. If it was hunted you’d see bones scattered and quite a few missing. We have foxes, hawks, and coyotes in our area and every now and then we find bits and pieces of their leftovers in the yard and on the porch but never the whole thing.
You may want to look up Mouser brand cat food. If I remember correctly, it was created by someone who had the same thoughts. I don’t know how healthy it is or anything, but I think it’s a neat idea…even though I feel bad for the poor little critters put into it.

My brother in Christ, 11 cats is far too much of the right amount of cats to have.
Vole, rabbit, and shrew for my outdoor babies.
